Hakeem Nicks Visiting Soon

The larger story though isn't that Nicks is not as good as some of the fans think he is. It's that Nicks is not as good as he thinks he is.

If you're looking for the actual reason why he's unemployed right now, that's probably a pretty big part of it.

Bingo. And when you look at it, why wouldn't teams go thru the draft to find receivers. Nicks doesn't look like a #2 anymore. Might as well groom young talent. But like I said earlier he'll be on a team once he realizes what his true value is.

Direct comparison between the two, nah. And if you look back, you'll see I didn't say that. I just pointed out that Cotchery has a job while Nicks is unemployed and let the nimrods run with it.

But what I would say is that Nicks really isn't all that good anymore, and I think most of the folks not looking through the UNC homer glasses know this.

Funny part is if he could even possibly pull his head out of his ass and have seen the big picture, he could have come here last year and been a #1 or at worse #2, he'd still have a roster spot and a much better chance of improving his stock, instead, he's jobless and I think he's gonna stay that way.  Good Riddance, other receiver options out there that actually WANT to be here.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've grown pretty indifferent about Nicks at this point, but I will say this...

Most of the guys we have signed this off-season, there was no rumors about them prior to it being officially announced. O

So there's that...

Does that mean DMo can still be signed...?  :P

Where he would most likely continue to be near-invisible.

How true, how true.  I'm beginning to think that Nicks is just in it for the most money that he can get with what time that he has left.

At this point it may even be presumptuous that Gman would even consider signing him here, but it seems like there wouldn't be a better opportunity to rise from the dead than with the Panthers. I mean, I can't hate on a guy for exploring his options and trying to earn the most money that he can, but damn.  Boldin, Smith, Patton and Ellington are some competition for a receiver whose reputation for having WR1 upside in this league has taken perhaps a near mortal hit. Why not try Cleveland, the Panthers, or Miami or something? Maybe his window for even above 'averageness' (yes, I made up a word), much less any semblance of greatness, is closed.

With Gmans familiarity with Nicks I think he'd already be here if it was going to happen.

It speaks volumes he has passed on him two years in a row.

Also that neither team that he has played foe want to keep him.
