Running Back?

Is anyone else worried about our running back situation? I'm always a fan of sitting back and not trying to win free agency like the Eagles this year and Tampa last year, but I feel like we need to get into the mix for a good running back. J-Stew has shown that he can't play a whole season, and Fozzy has only shown promise in garbage time.

Am I missing something? The Panthers are a defense-heavy, ball control team. That style of team needs a top-10 caliber RB (closest comparison is Seattle). We also know that top talent RB's are not coming out of the draft anymore because every decent college team plays the spread.

So....what's the deal? Anything coming down the pipe about this even being on the radar, or is the RB situation "set"?

Stewart was one of the most productive RBs in the league for the last 6 games or so. His health is the question, his ability is not. He will be our bellcow and rightfully so. He's a first round RB talent and it shows. Not too mention that we are paying him good money. Anything added to the RB position should be to help out in the passing game. I know Tolbert can catch, but I've been banging the drum for a role player like Reggie Bush who defenses would have to worry about with his speed. I'm also a fan of Fozzie and what he bought to the table the guy runs hard..We are pretty good at RBS but wouldn't hurt to being in a low cost speed option who can catch. Would be more of a luxury tho than necessity

I think Gettlemen is sick of looking at Stewart and William's cap numbers, so I do not expect him to add a RB on a second contract.  If I were a GM, I doubt there would be many backs in the NFL I would keep on a second contract.  This is one area where the draft is deep, and I expect him to add a rookie in the draft to complement Stewart, Whittaker, and occasionallyTolbert.

I agree with the talent part, but I think the schedule is going to be 16 games again this year. Can someone confirm?

Yeah I'm freaking out that jstew played as well as demarco over the last 5 games when both of them were healthy. Fozzy is a solid backup

Opposition was 29-51 instead of 40-40 for Cowboys for the last 5 games.

PS: What is our 2014 rushing total less D-Wills?

    • And meanwhile as we sit here comparing dart throwers, we were one pick from thjs https://x.com/lafullybolted/status/1869949048150503705?s=46&t=JBd6ZXmGQ3LmWL-ineTnAA Hurney knew.
    • When we do surgery to remove a glio, no one says the surgeons are trying to make the brain fail.  the best, actually realistic thing for the panthers as an organization, in the near, medium, and long term, is for Bryce to flame out as quickly and definitively as possible.  they’re never getting anything out of him, the picks are gone. Rip the bandaid off.
    • The other thing about bo is he is the same player in the pros he was in college. He was absolutely a screen mechanic and left for Oregon because you can’t really have success playing qb like that at auburn. They just can’t recruit the players unless they out pay everyone else for cam newton.  Bryce in college was touted as a guy who could make throws to all three levels, hit the whole route tree, brilliant tactician who was “running team meetings,” etc. it’s pretty clear by now Bryce can’t consistently make the throws he did in college, and that’s being kind. He’s also not shown any of this touted football IQ nonsense we were promised. As far as what he supposedly did at Alabama, they’re saying the same thing about Jalen milroe right now and that guys gonna be running routes at the combine. Bo is exactly who he was going to be. Bryce is a fraud and the panthers got rinsed acquiring him. In soviet Russia if you’d given up that much to get great value Bo nix you’d be handed a chambered pistol and a confession to sign.
