Local Charlotte kid. Was 1st team all conference LT in App's first year in the Sun Belt.

official Pro Day measureables were 6'5 303. he played most of his career in the 295 range until this year. needs to bulk up some to play the pro game, but he has the potential

 

This is the only other thing I can find about his pro day. Unfortunately, App doesn't release the full Pro Day info

I was just about to say your being a Homer.

App state has not made good NFL players. The player who made it the most is WR a Brian Quick and his best season was 375 yards and 3 Tds.

With that said I would love for us to sign a bunch of UDFA tackles and try to develop them. Eventually we would find a decent one or so you would think.

I admitted to it being a homer choice out of the game. but its not like I was saying draft him in the first 3 rounds. I know where he'll get picked up at.

 

App has put more good players in the NFL historically than you would think. but since you're obviously not a fan, I wouldn't expect you to know that

 

Brian Quick only played 4 games last year before going on IR. He was the Rams #1 WR until that point

I'll admit I don't know many players that came from app state, the ones I know of off of the top of my head are Edwards, Quick, Presley DJ Smith and Dexter Jackson but after looking at some of their alum I must say I agree there are quiet a bit of solid NFL players from app state.

Remember, you aren't drafting the school, you are drafting the player.  I played at WCU back in the day, and we had a history of putting players in the pros who were very successful---only 1 was drafted---in the 10th round.  Brad Hoover, Clyde Simmons (pro bowler), Dean Biasucci (pro bowler) etc. There are gems there.  To dismiss the player because he went to App is pretty telling.

my best friend is an employee of the Panthers. Rivera travels around to observe and take part in spring practices of the biggest football schools just to learn and improve his practices of how to better prepare his players.

Ron wants the biggest, the baddest, the most disciplined, conditioned and headiest players he can get. The biggest schools have the best facilities and therefor most advanced teaching and conditioning methods and tools to build their athletes.

This ain't Rocky 4 (being sarcastic.)

I'm not saying tamale school guys can't be prepared and talented.,..but the NFL is a win now league and the quicker these draftees can produce has a lot to do with what kind of developmental regime they had had in college.

small school guys just don't have the facilities to be able to get a fare shake against the powerhouse programs.

it is getting harder and harder for these hometown heros turn into battle-hardened machines. sure, there's mystery and wonder about some all-world athlete that just got overlooked and may have worked his way to the pinnacle of a sport,,,but its just not worth it to put stock in these guys feom small schools with limited resources to prepare their athletes compared to the guys that come out of the football factories.
