The NFC South has not given Gettleman a reason to go out into free agency.

However it happened, we won the division back to back for the first time in the division history.  We have not yet put back to back winning record seasons together - The record may not reflect it, but the "Team" is better over all since Gman arrived - he never promised an overnight turnaround - he never promised a SB with X years.

 

No one is 100% perfect or accurate, but so far I am a believer in the way Gman thinks and the way he drafts.

 

I would rather us be consistent over the long haul rather than a 1-2 yr. splash and then revert back to the past for another 20 years.

The whole point of this topic was to bring up that fact that this team has not won that much in our history. 6 playoff seasons out of 20 isn't great when 2 of those were this and last year. That is a whole lot of losing. Let us enjoy winning first before the superb owl battle cries begin and we become inundated with bandwagon fans like seattle talking about superb owl or bust whilst not having a clue about what it takes to make up a team.

 

We are very fortunate to have a lot of young talented players. Let's remind ourselves of them; Cam Newton, Fossy Whittaker, Trai Turner, Mike Remmers, Kelvin Benjamin, Corey "Philly" Brown, Star lotulelei, Kawann Short, Kony Ealy, Luke Kuechly, AJ Klein, Josh Norman, Bene Benwikere. Most of those guys are 26 and younger except for Josh Norman (27). That is 13 spots out of 22 are occupied by that young core.

 

With a team so young there is no reason to cash strap them and prevent talented FA from coming here in the future. I am trusting in Gettleman, that he will do the draft justice this year a get us as many talented players as he did the past 2 years. 7 of those core guys i mentioned were from these past 2 draft classes along with Corey Brown who was undrafted.

 

I think that at least one more name, probably bigger than the first 2 will be signed this free agency.

 

Gettleman is setting up next year in FA where we can have a run to the Superb Owl. This would be the perfect time to strike in the NFC for us. I think next year we may only be a player or 2 away from a Superb Owl. This year we are at least a elite tackle, a #2 WR, an elite DE, and a pro bowl safety away from the big game.

Maybe we are waiting to see what the rest of the division does so we can plan the best moves to counter them
