The NFC South has not given Gettleman a reason to go out into free agency.

ding ding ding. Our roadblock hasn't been the south the past two years.

Our road block is the Seahawks if we want to think superbowl. They've furthered the case this offseason. Not saying we HAVE to pay loads of money for some player, but in terms of who stands in our way.

the playoff game was pretty bad, but it wasn't long ago that we were a fumble away from beating them.

I believe they are positioning themselves to compete with us and nobody else in the NFCS. TD and Luke demoralized Graham time and time again. losing their center is gonna allow our beast interior linemen to shut down Lynch and get pressure up the middle on Wilson. their loss of Unger can't be understated.

Seahawks lurkers will try to understate it...after saying how huge his return was after injury. Good luck.

Next year we will have 71 mill in cap space, we could afford to sign Cam AND extend Luke next year and STILL have roughly 30 or so million in cap space to go out and spend, (my math could be off a bit but I'm guessing) I was one of the ones starting to panic and bash Gman but after I just found out we will have a whopping 71 million in cap space next year, I feel much much better.

Just think about that for a minute. Next year, 30 mill in cap AFTER we lock up Cam and Keek. That's huge

If we have that much we can front load those 2 contracts as well, and be golden going forward.

Just one problem. You got 24 more positions you got to fill.

Look who is in those positions. Despite maybe 5 people you have to keep, they're all replaceable. The 5 you keep may not cost as much as you think.

Ofcourse, but Cam and Keek will cost the most. With 30 million roughly in cap after we lock up those two, the rest should be easy

I'm not site Cam and Kuechly even cost 40m together. It's a possibility, but I would look at having North of 30m after their contracts.

I agree with those that say our goal every year is to win the Super Bowl with the division being the first hurdle to cross. Truth is that teams that win home field advantage through the playoffs have a much better chance of going to the Super Bowl so really the goal needs to have the best record in the conference thus compete and beat Seattle, GB, etc. sure winning the division is important but now that we have done that back to back we need to set the bar higher and try and win the conference.

I like the approach.  I really like the Oher signing.  Just got a gut feeling he's going to have a big year for us.  I thought resigning Cole and Edwards were just the kind of "under the radar" type moves we needed to stay competitive.  I like having Ginn back, but I'm curious as to where that leaves Philly Brown.

There's still some work that needs to be done though.  We need a solid back up at LB, more Oline depth, corner, safety, receiver, and another rb (because invariably they will get hurt.)

Our cap number for 2016 only includes 27 players under contract and is currently at 78 million. If you count on 15 for Cam and 10 for kuechly if we pick up his 5 year option we add 25 million or roughly 103 out of a total of an estimated 150. If you add 10 for our rookies we signed this year on escalating contracts you might have 6 more players or a total of 34 players signed for 113 million. That leaves you 37 million to sign roughly 17 players which averages to a little more than 2 million per player. Sure 37 million sounds like a lot and would be if we had 51 signed with that but we don't. For example I could see extending Johnson and Davis and right there goes another 15 million. Now we have 36 players signed and only 22 million left. Add another 5 for our draft picks in 2016 and we have 17 million left and still only 42 signed.

Sure the numbers sound huge but honestly I don't think we are going to have a huge amount once all is said and done.
