The NFC South has not given Gettleman a reason to go out into free agency.

ding ding ding. Our roadblock hasn't been the south the past two years.

Our road block is the Seahawks if we want to think superbowl. They've furthered the case this offseason. Not saying we HAVE to pay loads of money for some player, but in terms of who stands in our way.

In Star's two games against them we smothered them. Yes they won but the game within the game had us physically whipping their @$$ (our D vs their O). Now they get a softy in Jimmy after getting weaker on their OL while we get Star back, a replacement for our franchise DE who was out all year, Ealy in his 2nd year, and a likely high draft pick (which they lost), and we're supposed to not whip them?

People really think the Seahawks got the better end of the trade?

They got an extremely overpriced tight end whos is a great player, but not necessarily a need in Seattle (especially with what Luke Wilson has brought to the table).

Meanwhile, they parted ways with a good offensive lineman and a first round draft pick.

I hate the saints as much as the rest and I'm glad that we don't have to see Jimmy Graham get away with push-off after push-off in our division, but the Saints helped themselves with that deal.  Don't believe me, just go take a look at the cap hits Jimmy had left on his contract.

The biggest obstacle for beating Seattle is our Oline, imo. That will have to be built through the draft, as the FA's are not a marked improvement. Our D matches up with them fine, its the O that needs more consistency.

The Seahawks have lost 2/5's of their line and got a TE that's soft as tissue paper.

Everyone just chill out and wait to see what our roster looks like after the draft

Please for the love of God, everyone read this simple statement.

Next year we will have 71 mill in cap space, we could afford to sign Cam AND extend Luke next year and STILL have roughly 30 or so million in cap space to go out and spend, (my math could be off a bit but I'm guessing) I was one of the ones starting to panic and bash Gman but after I just found out we will have a whopping 71 million in cap space next year, I feel much much better.

Just think about that for a minute. Next year, 30 mill in cap AFTER we lock up Cam and Keek. That's huge

I love the trade...because I hate both teams. And both teams, both short and long term, are hurt. The Hawks hated him before today and they (their eloquent speaker RB among others) are going to hate him even more after he does NOT block. Jimmy in, pass. Jimmy out, run.

Even if the premise of this thread were true (it's not, as Atlanta and Tampa are working to make significant strides) the notion that we should take our foot off the gas, especially in light of our significant weaknesses and performance this last season, is ridiculous.

You finally made a good post! Good job.

(I'm not sure if that's right though)

Just one problem. You got 24 more positions you got to fill.

Greatest dynasty of the salary cap era. Coming soon to BOA.

Good they should be trying to make significant strides, they were absolutely putrid this past season.
