Who are these exact same posters you're referring to?  Just curious.

I see a majority of level headed people trying to reason it out...then maybe a tad trying to get excited about back-of-roster fillers and then a few people freaking out over the situation.

I am thinking of 4 Huddlers right off the top of my head...but in the interest of not getting banned, I declined to be more specific.

But all you need to do is go back to September-November (sometimes as early as the preseason, and as late as January when we are in the playoffs) of any of the the proceeding years, and look at any of the 1000 threads critical of either of offense or newton, and then see who is creating said thread.

They are the same posters in this every thread preaching "we don't really need to be making any moves..." these were the same posters who last year around this time, claimed that Underwood and King was sufficient for Newton then in the Steelers game complained about Newton not being able to move the ball and keep up with Big Ben in the second half.

This an annual occurrence on the Huddle.

There were literally only maybe 10 people on this board who stuck up for Cam when he was getting his head smashed in behind a AFL offensive line. trying to throw the ball to a CFL receiver unit.

The people ripping him apart were the same ones laughing at everyone "overreacting" at cotchery being the answer to upgrading our reciever corps.

I really don't think that's the situation and you're exaggerating like crazy.  Everyone for the past 2 seasons has been clammoring for a good OL.

Sure some of the posters are the same but to lump all of this side of an argument that I really don't see when reading through this thread simply because we're interviewing Jarrett Boykin instead of a Denarius Moore or Cecil Shorts just seems...I dunno...over reactive?

We've added Ginn.  We've got KB.  We've got Greg Olsen.  We've got a deep WR draft ahead.  And we've got a ridiculously overhyped WR market on our hands for a fanbase who desperately wants playmakers.

the elephant in the room in all this, in spite of all the piss and vinegar over dave gettleman, is that ron rivera has proven that he pretty much can't be trusted to play the best 11.

the only reason we made the fuging playoffs in the first place* is because injuries sidelined amini silatolu, nate chandler, and deangelo williams and moves were forced in the secondary.

*e: outside of the division being garbage before i get my head ripped off

True, but that brings the argument back to who we're signing and drafting.

Why not address those positions in a concentrated effort like never before, and that way, you don't leave him picking between the lesser of dog poo versus horse poo?

Instead, here we are again, with a horrible receiving corps, we sign Ted Ginn and our work is done...

That's why the Colts and Niners keep getting brought up. They find bargains, they draft guys, but the bottom line is, they throughly address the positions around their QB. We haven't and that's what is so frustrating.

Yes, Ron has never played the best 11 until he's forced to, but look at what he's working with in the first place.

I'm one of the "It's just March Crowd", but about the only thing you'll hear me complain about is Shula and Bersin muffing punts.

No, I don't mean to imply that they are not Huddlers who are consistent in their approach...

There are...

They understand that the way the Panthers are built lends itself to a lot of 10-14 type games and don't complain about the offense not being able to keep up with Aaron Rodgers, or hanging 40 on the Seahawks...

But there is a vocal group of Huddlers who love to create threads critical of Newton and the offense in-season, while claiming Newton and the offense have more than enough talent in the off-season, and therefore we should be trying to draft the next Warren Sapp.

No, he added some nice croutons to Hurneys salad and then thought he knew more than everybody else and we won the sorriest division competition. The actual TALENT on this team, the ones that keep us competitive, Cam, Luke, TD, Olsen, CJ, all Hurney guys.

He's still riding Hurneys core players.

In just the past two seasons Gettleman has added Star, KK, Kony, KB, Bene, Tre, Trai, Norwell, Philly, Ted Ginn, Glanton, Remmers, Klein

In two years Gettleman has contributed twice as many starters as you named with what Hurney did with 10 years.

Please. Cam keeps us competitive and he was a no brainer. TD is a miracle and only he is responsible for his comeback not Hurney. We got Olsen for highway robbery and that would have been the biggest blunder ever if Hurney HADN'T made that trade (btw Gettleman just extended him so I guess he's technically a Gettle guy now). I'll grant you Luke.

This is HARDLY Hurney's team. It would be even better if we weren't in the cap mess Gettleman is getting us out of.

KB is a glorified Plaxico with less consistent hands right now.

We need speed, preferably with size and hands. Ginn only has one of those traits. He is not the answer. We need a #2 and likely an established #3. That's where interviewing Boykin is incendiary. It's insulting. People are tired of being jerked around and having our time wasted. Barely making the playoffs each year isn't good enough. We want a superbowl. The defense is in really good shape,so we should be addressing weaknesses while maintaining that, and we're not.

It's really simple... If Boykin and other receivers of his similar lack of ability are the only guys signed, let's revisit this thread in October or November and see what is over reactive.

We went through the same thing last year. I promise you, it may be slightly exaggerated but not by much... If I wasn't on my phone I would pull up the cotchery thread from last year and show you. The vast majority that were being level-headed and excited at that big pickup last off season were collectively losing their poo and questioning if cam should be benched in favor of DA because he was eating grass as soon as the ball was snapped.

The same people each year are saying, "calm down, their professionals. They get paid for a reason. Go play Madden, crybabies,"and only less than a handful are still riding that wave when guys like cotch are stopping on routes and tipping ints up into defenders arms while making our franchise QB look like poo.

See I'm fine with your argument but the fact that you are pointing this out is making those 4-10 or so posters feel as loud as they want to be.  We need speed and quickness.  I made a whole thread about that last year and got blasted.

The thing is like I mentioned earlier, we've got a smart yet frugal GM who clearly has a dividing line between paying too much to fill versus back-filling in preparation for the draft.  As a fan, it can be super frustrating but let's wait a little longer before giving this black & white approach to the offseason.
