not too many guys with his size...would at least be good to stop the run

The Raiders are expected to release DT Terdell Sands before or during final roster cuts on September 5.

Sands has tumbled down the depth chart and didn't see a snap in Saturday's preseason game. He is even behind undrafted free agent Desmond Bryant.

He's been pretty terrible so far this year and ends up on his back every play. He's basically a fat version of Nick Hayden... actually probably worse than Hayden, if that's even possible. Not being able to beat out the sorry ass Raiders DTs is usually a good indication of just how bad you are.

He's played in the first 2 preseason games and throughout TC.

We need to bring in a DT or two but this guy can't even beat out the scrubs on a sorry ass Raiders DLine. That should tell you all you need to know.

i was talking about the 3rd preseason game...

its the Radiers..how many times have players sucked with them.gone to better teams and been good..plus like i said not many DT will come with his size.

He didn't play in the 3rd preseason game because he's been beat out consistently by their other DTs to the point where he's behind an UDFA on the depth chart.

A couple times I'm sure. Let me ask, how many times have the Raiders had terrible players on their team that completely sucked through the rest of their careers even after leaving the Raiders?

    • I honestly didn't like trading up on the 2nd to draft a RB with a torn ACL. That didn't seem like a great move for this roster. But it wouldn't be a bad move if he proved to be a quality starter. But now signing Chuba to starter money on the hells of that? Yeah, that's significant roster building assets tied up in the RB position which has been a hallmark of the Panthers' roster building thought process over the years which has led to zero sustained success on the field.
    • But it's not a plug and play like teams were thinking.  Ask the Cowboys and the Bears thinking they were fine letting Montgomery walk.  Ask the Texans who had to trade for Mixon because their backfield held them back.  @Bear Handsbroke down the top running teams in the league and they have a very similar allocated of money/investments in the RB room.  It's a $15 million guaranteed contract over 4 years.  IF we are paying him the full 32 then he is playing very well and earning 8 plus million a year over 4 years.  I don't think we are doing the starter/backup scenario.  Our OC even said he has plays featuring both backs in the backfield.  We are trying to be a RB committee with a RB room that isn't that expensive compared to the league average.  IF Chuba plays to his top potential and we pay out all money he will average between Stevenson and Swift's average salary.
    • I'm just reporting it, not getting excited.  That will no doubt go down with new contracts. But because we've been drafting so many busts, there's no one in house to extend lol.  Could be spent on a lot of known resources.
