He's technically a FA but they slapped on a RD2-tender and are still working on a deal.  Been quiet recently though.

They have enough cap room to match basically anything too so no team will even bother trying.

Yep.  It's why tendered restricted FAs are rarely offered deals by other teams.  Other GMs know they're simply negotiating the terms of the contract for his current team.

He's got a bunch of off the field stuff. Arrests, 1 strike from a season suspension for drugs, etc. He's ridiculously talented but he's a the type guy you sign as a last resort in September if your starter goes down and pray he doesn't do anything stupid.

Been in the NFL for three years and has been suspended in every single year. It's actually pretty impressive. 4 for "adderall" in 2012, 4 for weed in 2013, 6 for weed in 2014. Also arrested for missing child support payments. There is zero doubt he is good enough to be a starter in the NFL, but yeah he is a damn dumbass. I think there was some stuff in college too while he was at Florida. He was with NYG while Gettleman was there so I'm sure he is familiar with his exploits.

Hope were still considering bringing in some of these names in to battle at the (Safety and Strong Side Backer) positions along the rookies and current players we have for the final 53....were a couple players off of having a 2000 ravens type defense...

Some of those linebackers like Briggs and DJ Williams are probably done. Coleman is going to be the only FA safety we sign and we may sign a CB if Ball decides to sign with us. We will probably try to sign a WR and maybe a OL. We will address most of the other needs through the draft and with all of the extra comp picks I could really see us finding a LB and/ safety in the draft.

NFL Notes: Chiefs, Cowboys, Raiders, & Ravens

 

Chiefs

Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt mentioned that he’s optimistic that they will be able to get a long-term contract worked out with franchised OLB Justin Houston at some point.

 

“I’ve been very consistent in saying that we not only value Justin as a football player, that we not only value Justin as a person and leader, and we want him to be a Chief for life,” Hunt said, via Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star. “And the negotiating process in these type of situations, as (general manager) John (Dorsey) has said, takes some patience. You just have to have patience. It will work out.”

 

Cowboys

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that they’ll have to start looking for a future quarterback at some point in the near future.

 

“We do have to look to the future relative to quarterback,’’ Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “It’s starting a time frame where a guy could come in and be a good backup.

 

“Look at how Romo evolved into the guy he is today. He did a little time with the clip board.’’

 

Raiders

Bill Williamson of ESPN takes a look a the remaining Raiders’ free agents and where things stand with Oakland.

 

While Williamson mentions that the Raiders have told CB Tarell Brown that they want to get younger, there’s at least a chance he could be back on a “team-friendly” contract.

Williams doesn’t expect the Raiders to re-sign CB Carlos Rogers or TE David Ausberry.

 

According to Williamson, the Raiders to looking to find a better receive than Vincent Brown.

Oakland apparently has no interest in re-signing RB Kory Sheets.

 

Ravens

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that Louisville WR DeVante Parker will visit the Ravens prior to the draft.

Ravens pick after us.. if DeVante Parker is there for us - could you see us passing on him? maybe if Andrus Peat and Parker are there it would be tough to choose
