#Browns brought Dwayne Bowe in to visit with the intention of not letting him leave. Big commitment to sign a top WR #Boweheldhostage

If they've promised to retain him until he scores a TD, now that is commitment...

In 2014, Bowe appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and caught 60 passes for 754 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 45 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

@AdamSchefter: Former Bengals DE Michael Johnson is returning to Cincinnati, having reached agreement with team, per source.

Funny aspect: Bengals will get a third round compensatory pick this year for losing MJ, even as he's back on team.

What's interesting about this move is that the Browns wouldn't be pressed to grab a WR at 19 in the draft. Devante Parker or Jaelen Strong could fall to at least the Eagles at 20. If the Eagles make a big trade with the Jets at 6 or Titans at 2 things can get really interesting at 25 if Parker or Strong is still on the board.

we're trying to get on the level of the Packers and we're crying about FAs...

every one of the 60 players on the packers have been never played with another NFL team besides Peppers...

maybe Gett is planning for a team like that one day with his drafting...

And yet, John Schneider in Seattle has made a ton of moves during his tenure.  There's not one set way to build a championship team, the GM just has to know what he is doing, and why.

The ability to adapt (and adapt on the fly) seems like the least appreciated part of being a GM as far as this place is concerned.

McManamon: Josh McCown will most likely be your opening

day starter unless Manziel comes in like a man on fire.

If you think Johnny Manziel had a drinking problem before,

now his mentor is Josh McCown ....

2nd-year Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine on Josh McCown:

“If we wanted a mentor, you can bring a coach in that can do that. To me, the guy can still play. When the circumstances are right, he's shown he can play at a high level... We’re just not looking to bring in a guy that’s a leader and a mentor; we want a guy that can play the game as well. He certainly demonstrated that in his last year in Chicago and that’s something we’re hoping to replicate here in Cleveland."

Josh McCown Scouting Report by Browns blog

"For the Browns to have success with Josh McCown at quarterback, they must give him excellent pass protection. If he gets pressured, he'll make bad decisions and turn over the ball. His 2014 season in Tampa Bay was, to some degree, a perfect storm. He is highly susceptible to pressure, the Buccaneers ran a vertical offense with many slow-developing plays, and they had the worst offensive line depth chart in the NFL."

Browns: 7-9 last year, lose 3 key players, add Josh McCown &

Brian Hartline. GM of the Year locked up for Ray Farmer...

Ray Farmer has no time for Pro Days. He's too busy re-signing

Marlon Moore & bringing in Thad Lewis/ Josh McCown . Not

just anyone can do that

The Browns are paying Josh McCown $5M a year (the SAME

amount of $ that Cam Newton and Andrew Luck are getting

paid)

This is basically how the Panthers operate. We want to act like we are better but they had just as good of a record as us last year with a worse QB. Also like us they don't sign but low level FAs each year.

Carlos Hyde + Reggie Bush will be a nice one-two punch in San Francisco. FA moves allowing them to go BPA again in the draft.

49ers beat writer for CSN Matt Maiocco @ MaioccoCSN

24h

GM Trent Baalke and #49ers have a three-man approach at RB

now with Carlos Hyde, Kendall Hunter and Reggie Bush

"the 49ers will lean more toward a running-backs-by-committee approach with Gore no longer in the organization. Hyde is likely to be the 49ers' running back on base downs, with Hunter and Bush incorporated as change-of-pace backs."

http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/reggie-bush-confirms-contract-agreement-49ers

NFL.com:

"Bush will provide Colin Kaepernick with a viable target out of the backfield and a speed complement to Hyde's power game. The 49ers also have pass-catching back Kendall Hunter , who missed all of last season with a torn ACL, in the mix."

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000479051/article/reggie-bush-agrees-to-join-san-francisco-49ers

Michael Schottey, Football Insiders:

"Having an outlet for Kaepernick, too, is important, as tight end Vernon Davis is better utilized as a deep threat and is mostly wasted on "security blanket" routes. Kaepernick's ability as a runner is all the more useful with a running back pressing linebackers into coverage and forcing them to choose between being burned by Kaepernick's arm or leg"

With Reggie Bush & Torrey Smith it's not about having big

stats for us, it's more about creating mismatches opening up

the Field Explosive

In the next madden I'll be so dirty with San Fran lol. Torrey

smith , Vernon Davis, Boldin and Reggie bush . It's a done deal.

NFL Notes: Draft, Giants, Raiders, & Patriots

Sam Bradford Could Be Trade Bait For Eagles To Move Up To No. 2 Overall?

ESPN spoke to coaches at West Virginia’s Pro Day who said that they aren’t convinced that Sam Bradford will end up being the team’s starting quarterback, and don’t see him as a system fit in Philadelphia.

Draft
Indiana RB Tevin Coleman has visits scheduled with the Ravens, Panthers and Cardinals,

Giants
talks between the Giants and free agent S Stevie Brown remain open.

Raiders
Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie reiterated Saturday night that they are not pursuing free agent DE Greg Hardy.

“At this point we don’t have any intentions of doing anything with him,” “His situation is a delicate one. He has something ongoing with the league also. Anything we do (regarding Hardy) is about information gathering, like we do with all the players.”

Patriots
there is a “strong belief” that once the Jets got involved in bidding for CB Darrelle Revis, it was over for the Patriots.

waiting until last moment to lock up S Devin McCourty to a massive extension could have been prevented had they spoke to him during the year. they could have got McCourty under contract for something like $7.5 to $8 million per year, rather than the $9.5 million he signed for last week.
Patriots should consider trading for Saints CB Keenan Lewis, offering a late second-round draft pick.

Patriots coaching staff viewed WR Brandon Gibson as the Dolphins best receiver, which is why they got him under contract early on in free agency.

The Patriots’ interest in veteran receiver Stevie Johnson is “real, ;)

Adrian Peterson told #Vikings he's still not happy. Ball totally

in their court. If he goes on block, #Cardinals will offer high

draft pick.

16h

@MINVikingsLife He's not happy. But whether he stays or goes

isn't in his hands. And he knows that.

Mar 14

If Adrian Peterson hits the block, it sounds like #Vikings could

at least get a second round pick out of him. They may want

more, though.

Mar 14

The Dallas #Cowboys , as you might expect by now, do not plan

to be bidders if Adrian Peterson hits the market. Not in the

plans at all.
