Drafting a Wide out in the first three rounds is imperative.

so, you're suggesting we draft for need. ok.

From what I've seen, it is legitimately possible that a receiver could indeed be the BPA at 25.

If it's an O-Lineman, obviously I'll be happy, and I think complaints will be relatively minimal.

If the pick is a DL or a safety though, and there was a receiver or OL available that people have talked about, that might be a good time to log out for a while

you are right in that assumption, when KB was at FSU Greene was the number 1.

KB was a freak of nature at WR and no college corner would contend with his size but Greene was the most reliable and Winston trusted him the most. But with saying that FSU REALLY missed KB this past season. FSU lacked size at wr and did not really have a red zone threat outside O'leary who is only 6'3.

Not to derail the thread, but what FSU needed this season was a defense, and for ESPN/national media to stop trying to tear down our program every Saturday afternoon or night.

I thought, while inexperience and responsible for some offensive mistakes, our WR and passing game was good to great this year.

But I digress.

The next crop, the lower tier guys are not bad either. Here's a list of WR's that could be available at #25 al the way through the 3rd round.

Davante Parker

Jaelen Strong

Dorial Green-Beckham

Breshad Perriman

Nelson Agholor

Tyler Lockett

Phillip Dorsett

Justin Hardy

Sammie Coates

Devin Smith

Being that this draft is deep at the position, this means talent will slip. From the first, second, and third rounds. The fourth round would be a little hazy. The thing that will dictate the talent dropping is if Teams don't rush to get WR's. There's always a round that they start going after WR's. Last year it happened a little sooner than expected, but there were several WR needy teams. This year, not so much. I believe Pass Rushers will be what will help the WR Talent pool last a little longer, maybe even until the 4th round when we pick.

Preferrably, I would like the Panthers to make a choice in the first two rounds, but if another top talent drops to them, I would not be mad if they take such talent. Example: Kony Ealy, Trai turner.

Drafting another weapon would set up the Panthers nicely, KB, Brown and Draft pick would make a nice 1-2-3 combo. Olsen is in his prime and I don't think Shula could mess this offense up with so much talent.

In order for this offense to move forward, this April/May, a WR has to be taken to line up next to Kelvin. Ultimately I trust Gettleman with his evaluations since 2 years running he's found players that contribute immediately. So if he picks a wide out in the first three rounds, he's going to be a starter, you can believe that.

The only thing that would drop Devante Parker out of the top 20 would be a medical issue or if he gets arrested between now and the draft. Dude is a stud. He won't get past Cleveland at 19. And that's if they don't try to secure him with their first pick at 12.

The only viable options I expect to be available and worth a 1st round pick are Devin Smith and Dorial Green-Beckham. Green-Beckham is likely off of our board based on Gettleman's comments so that leaves Devin Smith. Devin Smith could very well be the best wide receiver in the draft. Problem is that the way Ohio State used him, you have to project the rest of his abilities. So if Ricky Proehl works him out and sees a superstar, you have to take him. If he sees a project, then you measure him up against who else is available. Gettleman said it's all about getting the guys on the field or else what's the point. This is where that would come into play.

How deep this draft is with WR again.. BPA has to be a WR at some point in the 1st 3 rounds. .

first 3 rounds is only 3 picks. 'some point' will come and go very quickly. while I agree that it's possible a WR could be BPA for us, to say it is 'imperative' is drafting for need. it's much more probable to say WR won't be BPA in our first 3 rounds.

what's almost certain is to say that a WR will be in the top 5 BPA, proabably in all 3 of our first picks, almost definitely top 10. the absolute BPA, eh....we'll see.

It happened last year. We needed a Wide receiver desperately. KB just happened to be there, was he the best player available? Not sure, it's too early to tell. But he was definitely a need. In a couple of years you'll be able to tell if he indeed was the best player available. So far the way he's played, it's a strong indicator that he was the BPA when we drafted.

And people want to complain about KB hands

Sammie Coates has one of the worst set of hands I have seen in a WR the last few years. Coates has a drop rate of 19.1%. That is the highest I have ever seen for a WR since I started following the combine (2007).

Just to put that into perspective KB drop rate coming out of FSU after his redshirt sophomore year was 9.68%.

Chirping awfully loud for a new bird............

Welcome to the huddle. :)

Have to protect Cam and his blindside. Cam like to hold onto the ball which may be part a lack of options, but I think he does it naturally as well. Having decent protection is imperative for Cam, especially as he ages and we'll need to rely less and less on his legs. Even with his legs, shoddy protection for the first 2/3rds of last year nearly got him killed and did get him injured. Tackle is much more important IMO.

Cam not knowing how to slide and a car wreck got him injured last year. I'm sure he got a few bumps and bruises from getting hit but his actual injuries had nothing to do with his protection. He had ankle issues since college.

Im suprised it hasnt been brought up yet, Im anxious to see Ginn and KB together, remember, we didnt have KB when we had Ginn. I think they will compliment each other nicely

I honestly don't think Ginn will get many reps at WR. He will likely back up Philly. They are going to want him to focus on kick returns. Our WR group will be a lot better than it was when he waa our number 2/3
