Our wide receiver corp

I like Devin Smith in the 3rd a lot, but we may have to take him in the second.

He's our speed guy, and a returner.

That said, this draft is soooooo deep at WR I really think we can find our #2 in the 3rd round.

Either Strong in the 1st or Smith/Coates in the 2nd would make me happy.

OT is my #1 wish, but if there's no OT on the board who provides the value, Strong is my #2 wish.

this is another deep wr draft so there is opportunity beyond rd 1. We really missed the boat in the draft last year, a multiple wr draft would have narrowed the need and focus for this off season.hope not to repeat the mistakes.

It would be nice to sign another free agent but I wouldnt be spending a ton to get him.  I definitely would spend one of our top 3 picks on a wide receiver.  It gives us a chance to groom someone and not have to start him day 1.  Really Bersin position needs upgrading and Cotchery is really a 4 so if KB is our 1 and Ginn can be a 2 for us and Brown/Cotchery can be our 3/4. We can add one more good receiver and have a full complement.

Truth is that Benjamin and Olsen are enough to say our receivers arent garbage.  Given our tendency to pound the rock, we really dont need a receiving corps like Green Bay or another WCO.

As of right now it is. People are acting like Ginn is the solution to our WR problem. Same thing every year, we sign some scrubs (Cotchery, Avant last year) and people think that's giving Cam weapons.

Same people will start threads during the season blaming Cam because our offense blows.

I've wanted a #2 WR since the beginning of time, forgive me if I have my doubts about them actually ever accomplishing that. I'm not saying go get Cobb, Smith or Maclin (I didn't want any of those guys) but if AJ gets released, DG better give it an honest effort to get him signed.

That's as of right now though.  You're acting like the position is a lock and we're done.  I don't want AJ at all.  Benjamin has that role covered.

Andre Johnson replaces slow cotchery, draft a stud or 2 in the NFL draft Bam!

^ is what I hope does not happen.  It's not smart to pay 6-8 million on a replacement for cotchery.  Hell, I don't want to spend 5 million on a replacement for him.  Who we have is serviceable.  Sure, maybe find another option in the draft but what we have on the roster NOW is not garbage.

Sure there will be, but IMO there's a pretty steep drop off after the first 4 WRs (Cooper, White, Parker, and Strong) down to the next tier.  I think all four of those guys are pretty damn close to being sure things.  There's no such thing as a slam dunk sure thing in the NFL draft, but I think those four come pretty close.

And you want AJ to feel comfortable with our wr position? That dudes wheels are going to fall off soon and fast. We are going young.

Dude I've not read one post saying ginn is the answer, maybe I missed it. We are going to get our talent in the draft and shore up competition with FA. I think we have like 8 picks this year. DG has been money in the draft. Calm down.

It wouldn't be a replacement for Cotchery, it would be actually filling the need for what Cotchery was supposed to be.  In no way is Jerricho Cotchery a serviceable #2 WR.  580 yards and 1 TD as a #2 NFL WR is a fuging cruel joke.  Having a guy like that as your #2 is allowing the other team to roll coverage toward KB all game long.

I've mentioned before how Strong is a hard prospect to figure out and I'm not the biggest fan, but I can definitely see him being BPA when we're on the clock come April. He had a great combine but like OPFIN said in another thread last night the athlete that showed up at the combine didn't always look like the same athlete during the season. I really like some of the 2nd tier WR in this class like Perriman, Devin Smith and Nelson Agholor

Really don't get that whole argument though.  You have to put into consideration the guys he was going up against.  Marcus Peters, Alex Carter, Eric Rowe, etc and those DB's in the Pac12 are No Slouch athletes that I don't think any WR in this draft (Cooper and White included) would run "circles" around and make them look Silly but would still put up good #'s much like Strong.

Well the OP was talking about the now. We have no idea what additions are going to be made between now and week 1.

AJ and KB would be a physical duo not many teams could account for. At this stage AJ could be a 1.b type WR and KB is similar. How would having another good WR be a bad thing? Cotchery shouldn't even see the field so...

Don't sugarcoat it, bro.  Outside of KB, our WR corps was pure hot garbage.

KB:  73 catches, 1008 yards, 9 TDs (Yay!!!)

Cotchery:  48 catches, 580 yards, 1 TD

Brown:  21 catches, 296 yards, 2 TDs

Avant:  21 catches, 201 yards, 1 TD

Bersin:  13 catches, 151 yards, 1 TD

That's hot trash.  The rest of our WR corps combined barely eclipsed KB's yardage production by himself and couldn't match his TD total.  We're talking about a rookie WR here.  The guy needs some help.

While it's not good it's not hot trash. Take a look at some other teams. Start with Seattle. Their second and third receivers aren't WR either. Their second WR had 271 yards.

We just don't throw that much. Arguably because of the receiving options but for other reasons as well.
