Still one glaringly HUGE hole.....we haven't signed a DE that fills our roster so that we can truly draft BPA

 

There is really no one out there, unless you want to sign Umeniora who was basically misused last year.  

 

I don't see it as a huge hole.  I believe that Ealy is going to continue his gradual growth which was pretty obvious from the beginning to the end of his rookie season. And, not only that, Big Frank (as long as he can keep off the pot) only needs the consistency of playing time to recognize the depth of his potential. Moreover, I believe that Star and Short's development and presence is only going to help Alexander, Ealy and Addison.

 

All this being said, I expect Gman to draft a DE if he is the obvious BPA along the way. He has nine picks, and unless he trades a couple of them away in an effort to move up, I would be mighty surprised if he doesn't snag at least a "project" in the mid to late rounds.  I still don't believe he will reach though.

I think the defensive linemen we could draft could be a multi-tech DT or more of a balanced DE that could be behind CJ but ahead of Horton/Alexander.  Addison is a nice speed rusher but an upgrade over Frank and Horton would be most beneficial.  But that being said, I'd be comfortable with the group as is going into the season.

I wouldn't necessarily compare the 2 since they're pretty different as player types and for situational use (even if Frank starts to get playing time)

I wasn't thinking we sign a Hardy replacement, it's just a void that DG must fill before the draft to maintain his philosophy of filling holes with FAs to be able to draft BPA.

We are a man short among DEs. I'm expecting a Bowers signing TBH. A lot of potential for cheap, if he could stay healthy
