Great contract, I mistakenly though in the other thread that the guaranteed salary would make more dead money next year. Gettleman knows whats going on with these contracts.

If he doesn't make the roster, we carry no additional dead money.  The dead money and cap hit this year are a wash.  This is the quintessential "prove it deal".  If he plays well this year and sticks around next year, he's set to make some decent money.  If he doesn't we cut him after this season and save $3.25M on next year's cap.

My amateur analysis is we are paying him 500k more than Bell got last year. If we are happy with him he stays on for a 2mil bump in pay. If he's a disaster, we can cut him for 1.25m . 

 

Sounds reasonable to me. Pie in the sky, I wish we got him for less. But it's certainly not a debilitating deal like the one Collins got for the Bucs.
