If he was in a major market, he would have already ascended up there in the eyes of the casual fan that was made to believe that Jeremy Lin was a budding star and (more recently) that Whiteside is now on the level of Drummond, Cousins and Vucevic.

 

Until Charlotte gets to the level where they are a consistent 40-50 win team that gets a fair share of national press, he will continue to be the league's best kept secret, and that's fine with me. Remember, this was the lasting image from the last time he was on national TV.

 

 

That image is so jarring (from a basketball standpoint) that if you hadn't been following along with his progress, you would already have put his NBA career out to pasture.
