Schematic Question

Why do we continue to allow teams to pick up 10 yards on 3rd and 9. I'm not saying we have to play press coverage but, when the receiver gets to about midway to the 1st down, it looks like our corners would break towards the receiver.

This trait has to end soon, or I'm going to lose my mind.

Yea I know, it seems like that happens very often.

I wondered why we dont play more bump and run. But then I saw Gamble try to chuck a receiver last night, and it wasnt very pretty. It was the same play the receiver made him whiff and ran right past for for like a 50 yard completion.

It looked like the Panthers were playing off too deep to avoid getting burned (it didn't work). Those short dump off passes by the Ravens looked unstoppable. :willy_nilly: The Panthers don't seem to try the short passes and screens as much for whatever reason.

Meeks has alot of work to do with our CBs. They have never had to chuck WRs so I guess its gonna be a learning curve. Really I guess Gamble NEVER had to do it cause he was a WR coming out of Collage. Still it need to be fixed thats for sure.....

Add that the linebackers didn't stop that the back coming out of the backfield either. Can you imagine what Westbrook will do to us in 2 weeks if Ray Rice can look like a superstar and he isn't that good. We really had poor coverage and poor tackling all night. No blitz package or defensive line stunts will help a linebacking corp and secondary that looked as poor as we did last night. It looked to me that Munnerlyn and Wilson did a much better job than Marshall and Gamble. At least they tried to defend a pass or two. I literally didn't see Gamble or Marshall break up one pass last night. Not one I can remember.

The Pre-season is for people that dont have spots to fight for them. Marshall and Gamble are not worried about losing there spots so yea that are not gonna try as hard. I dont like that but it is what it is. ;) Our LBs were basically backups also so really to expect greatness in not right.

I keep telling myself that you are right and everything will come together by Philly. But it hard to see other teams all play better and with more desire whether it is their starters or back-ups. I am not of the chicken little ilk who think we are doomed but I think some of the players need an attitude adjustment and the real leaders on this team need to step up and lead the way. How you practice is how you will play when you have to produce. Waiting to just turn it on backfires as many times as it succeeds.

Just sayin..................

I guess last year the secondary was pretty sure they had jobs this season....b/c they didn't seem to try to hard in games last season either. After every preseason game a new reasoning is used for why they look worse and worse.... Baltimore was missing a few starters last night also.....funny that they didn't have to make excuses about practice.
