Good. Sign Smith and release Stevie Johnson. I'd rather have Johnson and he'll probably sign cheaper than Smith seeing that his value has certainly been damaged by playing with Colin "one read and bolt" Kaepernick.

They keep making splash WR signings every off season, but eventually they'll have to admit that it's the QB.

And here I thought it was the head coach.

Franchises giving their young QB weapons

What an idea

But that's the thing that really irks me... people keep making excuses as to why we can't or shouldnt sign this guy or that guy, and then you look at the niners, colts, etc., and these teams are constantly upgrading their WRs to give their QBs talent to throw to.

Gman's drafts have been superb, but you have to supplement those with legitimate, established talent at some point.

I know FA hasn't even officially started yet, I'm just saying we have to get into the mix. We have to make moves of substance... signing a guy like Crabtree is like signing a younger, better version of Cotchery, so that doesnt really help. We need speed and we need it from a proven guy like Smith or Maclin, imo.

Good - never wanted Smith to begin with. Give me a guy like Stevie Johnson like many of you mentioned who needs to be a #2 guy and not buried on a depth chart like he was in SF. Look what he did in Buffalo with nothing around him.

Stevie Jounson is too well known. He's not obscure enough a name for us to go after. We only sign FAs that are A. On other team's practice squads or B. Are names that no one has ever heard of.
