Only the fans with no sense of the bigger picture. That said, it will absolutely be a problem if Gettleman has as poor-performing a crop of FAs as he did last year. Finding quality people to fill the gaps is a must, even if they aren't the big names people want to see. We've seen gold (2013 FAs) and crap (2014 FAs), so this year matters.

2014 it was the rookies.

2015 I'm banking on both. I'd like to see us sign maclin but not at the price it would cost. If all we do I sign oher I won't be thrilled. Id love to see ginn back and andre Johnson brought in on a two year deal.

Bulaga is the best remaining tackle that's likely to hit FA so prepare to be disappointed when the panthers don't enter the bidding war.

Veldheer was a much better option---a natural LT. We really missed out. Here, he has already basically told us he's not shopping at Tiffany's.

Throwing this out for discussion on the eve of F.A. If the Panthers do not sign any upper tier players (such as T.Smith etc.), and rely on lower level signings and the draft....would you be alright with this gameplan?

 

I have to believe the front office knows what it's doing.  If they don't sign some FA I'll wonder why, but will trust Gettlemen on those matters.

A bidding war could break over Bulaga, but even if it does, the Panthers should enter it.  Sometimes you can allure a player if you give them a fair deal and show them your promise as an organization.

The Panthers need to make him a sweet offer.  We can't afford not to have him.
