Hardy decision expected today

top dawg

Recommended Posts

No audio or video evidence with Hardy. Audio of a defensive coordinator (and the head coach has the responsibility to know), and video evidence (the 2009 NFCCG) are there for the world to see.

No audio or video with Big Ben

But he was news story....as was Hardy. That is what gets him. They put themselves in bad spots that could of been avoided and the NFL had to deal with it

Again though, the evidence is in the eye of the beholder. As Panthers fans, we say there is no evidence with Hardy despite neighbors calling because from our POV it's well that neighbor couldn't even see the altercation. We also then take the evidence presented in the bounty-gate scandal as gospel because we hate the Saints, when in reality nothing that their Greg Williams said was that bad.

Yeah he talked about taking them out, but all DC do that. My high school DC did that in every defensive sideline huddle.

It's similar to saying we're gonna punch em in the mouth. It's not to be taken literally.

I'm simply saying their is an inherent bias in a fanbase that makes impossible to look at things objectively.

Memory only- I recall specific mentioning of taking Crabtree's leg out, far more than typical rah rah. Him rubbing his fingers together saying he would take care of the fines was not on video, but what happened in the NFCCG was assault on Favre, pure and simple, the video is there, so much so the NFL pulled the game from re-air on NFL Network. This was also said to have gone on for a long time and affected the integrity of the game and for countless athletes, their livelihoods and lives.

Far different than a who gives a fug off the field he said/she said domestic misdemeanor between two twenty-somethings.

Again, I'm not arguing the evidence presented in either case, simply that fan bias and media buzzwords will always trump actual facts.

When Cam had busted ribs likely every DC we faced addresses it with his defense. When we lay a wounded superstar I am sure Ron/ McD talk about punishing that guy as well...

As far as the Favre game goes....biggest fault goes to the refs. They let a team get away with stuff and they kept piling on.

End of the day NFL code of conduct is worded in such a way that it can and does punish guys who get the media/public stirred up.....which is where Hardy is.

I thought it was only after his 2nd accusation came in 2 years that a 6 game suspension reduced to 4 was levied?

Ben had a very unflattering police report that was made public though

I know it's not a popular opinion, but you'd be amazed at the similarities in both the pro and against arguments for Hardy here with the conversations had during Sean Payton's bounty-gate suspension.

He was suspended for a year largely due to faux-outrage at something that was significantly blown out of proportion and was really bad PR for the league, so they had to do something drastic to act as if they cared. Of course looking at it from a Panthers fan POV we say oh that guy is a scumbag, good riddance, etc., but you have to understand that's how 31 other teams fan-bases look at Hardy.

They go off of buzzwords and talking heads, not case by case nuance.

Same old song and dance with the NFL.

I don't really think you can compare the two at all, they're so different. And whether Payton actually did anything wrong or not didn't really matter as the head coach needs to know what's going on with the team. Hardy is purely innocent.

Some Panther fans see him as purely innocent. (tiny group)

Rest of the nation sees a guy who was guilty, appealed, then paid off the girl (massive group)

NFL is going to care about addressing the viewpoint of masses....and that is where Hardy is.
