Hardy decision expected today

top dawg

If he worked out a deal with the NFL and agreed not to appeal a suspension as has been speculated, I can't see more than 1-2 games.

Yeah some morons will still be linking this to Ray Rice, but that guy was indicted, on video, and admitted it.

The differences are pretty glaring.

Suspend him for what? Being accused of a misdemeanor that was dismissed for lack of evidence. What can they actually prove that he did that would warrant a suspension?

Glossing over the facts to justify their hypocritical bullchit. Even the bench trial (look up judge Becky Thorn Tin) was a sham. The eventual legal outcome based on the FACTS was never in doubt. I wish I could say I'm over it but I'm only more enraged. We had a great chance to win our first Super Bowl on Cam's rookie deal. Cue my Pulp Fiction reference, ctrcat doesn't like to be fugged by anyone except Mrs. Ctrcat.

Their argument is that he has yet to be punished.

They likely want more than two because if he just gets two, people will say (fair or not) it's Ray Rice all over again and get in an uproar. The NFL doesn't want any more PR headaches.

Don't think they'll go with six though, especially not since he's cooperating with them in order to have everything settled for free agency.

My guess would be three or four (split the difference).

Ray Rice was different. Different circumstances and crime. It wasn't enough....there was video of the result of a knockout before footage of the knockout surfaced. That footage made people think it was too weak.

All CDV isn't the same nor deserves the same punishment. Hardy had a lighter charge than Rice would have seen in court

Code of conduct....he elected to hang out with drug users and put himself around questionable people. NFL/Panthers looked bad. NFL Code of Conduct addresses that and punish because of it....and being guilty of a crime isn't needed. Basically an image tarnishing clause

so effectively you'd be punishing him for just for being in the same general area where someone else did something bad? they might as well suspend the entire NFL then, i'm sure everyone has at least once in their life met a "questionable" person. hell cam was just at a club where a shooting occurred, wouldn't you say he's hanging at a place where questionable people are then? i guess we are just going to start punishing people for what other people do

Um, there is a difference between being in the wrong place at the wrong time and surrounding yourself with trouble. If you surround yourself with trouble it is simply a matter of WHEN.....

Cam simply was at a place where something bad happened. Wrong place wrong time.

Hardy was in court bc he elected to associate himself with drug using trouble....so eventually something happened. That in no way compares to Cam.

One of the two people had some control of being in a bad scenario. One had a LOT of control. Hardy

Whether you agree or disagree with the NFL code of conduct is an entirely different discussion....

It is what it is at the moment ...and that is what Hardy faces.

I wonder if the other 31 teams would have such a cavalier, company mindset if the shoe was on the other foot? The fact is the Panther organization has been screwed here on a level incomparable, ever.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but you'd be amazed at the similarities in both the pro and against arguments for Hardy here with the conversations had during Sean Payton's bounty-gate suspension.

He was suspended for a year largely due to faux-outrage at something that was significantly blown out of proportion and was really bad PR for the league, so they had to do something drastic to act as if they cared. Of course looking at it from a Panthers fan POV we say oh that guy is a scumbag, good riddance, etc., but you have to understand that's how 31 other teams fan-bases look at Hardy.

They go off of buzzwords and talking heads, not case by case nuance.

Same old song and dance with the NFL.

No audio or video evidence with Hardy. Audio of a defensive coordinator (and the head coach has the responsibility to know), and video evidence (the 2009 NFCCG) are there for the world to see.
