The Panthers will be as good....

...as their running game allows them to be. If Williams keeps the chains moving and Stewart comes back and the O-Line doesn't lose anyone for a significant amount of time, they will make Jake and the defense look a lot better than they are. That last one is a huge 'if', though. This team can hide a lot of problems if DeAngelo is still scoring touchdowns.

I appreciate a voice of reason.

The truth is your statement is true of almost every single team if you change a few names in and out.

Maybe something this simple and generic will penetrate the thick skulls of this mass uprising of dip-brain fist-shakers who are freaking out everywhere on here over what that they THINK they understand when they have not even seen anything to analyze just yet.

Maybe

Carolina's ground attack is very different from other teams that are at the top in that category, they can rip off huge TDs runs with consistency which limits TOP. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe DeAngelo Williams had the most 20+ runs in the NFL last year. The average tam that runs well will keep pounding a defense all over the field until they faulter and allow a big play. That is better for TOP and keeping a defense off the field.

I've seen it plenty with the Saints where we score too quickly and end up in shootouts.

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
