Negotiating period begins tomorrow

IMO, the biggest news Panthers fans can hope for is Torrey Smith...but I wouldn't bank on that even. The sooner people come to grips with that, the happier they'll be.

Now next year with more cap space...then we can talk about FA splashes.

Same thing people say every year...Now just wait until next year.

Cam and Luke should help fill that out too.

Of course, probably 90m between the two in guaranteed money. Still need to spend quite a bit more though. Its why i expect most deals to be heavy guaranteed for the teams extensions.

Also why I'm pretty sure Cam isn't getting a kapernick/Dalton type of deal.

I think carolina in the next few days will be seeing where they stand with Joe Webb, Ed Dickson, and Dwan Edwards as well as trying to extend thomas davis. I know I'm probably wrong but I just have a weird feeling they will be in on a name free agent like Maclin or smith. Just doesn't make sense to me why Gettleman would come out and say pretty much they could be more aggressive this year than past if he wasn't planning on doing anythjng.

Except next year, will be the first time in forever, that we actually have cap space. People don't just say it to say it...it's kinda sorta been true if you vaguely follow the team and understand how the NFL works.

I don't care if we ever make a huge splash in FA. Most of the elite FAs get overpaid anyway. Most guys who fit that mold get locked up long-term by their current team unless they're really trying to break the bank. Once a young, elite guy hits the open market, the bidding is probably gonna get ridiculous because bad teams with cap space are going to be willing to pay to compete and try to save the jobs of their decision makers. Better to get fired a few years down the road strapped by cap constraints than get fired right now.

The "Top 51" rules go into place sometime in the next few days as well, i.e. team salary cap hits will be calculated using only the top 51 contracts.

Once the season rolls around of course, you have to count every player.  That includes practice squad, injured reserve and...oh yeah, the commissioner's exempt list

Goes into effect on the 10th, first day of league year.

I have followed, blead, sweated and cried for this team since day fugging 1. Don't fugging tell me I don't know the NFL or this team. I have forgotten more about this team then you will ever know. And no one is promised tomorrow. So whos to say that the world will even have football next year? I'm just saying we have been promised a Super Bowl for 20 years. Time to pay the fugging piper!
