With this years WR draft class, why would we spend on a WR like Smith when we can draft a deep threat on a rookie contract. I'd rather us spend a lot on the best LT free agent rather than a WR. Chances are slim that we can get a day 1 starter LT late in the first, but we can still get a stud WR or safety.

Would be a really good fit, but I think he might want a little bit too much than what we can offer. 

It all depends on the guaranteed money.  You'd be surprised how little a $9 million/year deal can affect the cap, with a lower guaranteed number.
