Forget Gman's talk of having more cap space, I dont expect notable FA signings.

First and foremost, the feel goods. We locked up Olsen for three years AND at a very reasonable price, awesome day to ne a Panther fan! Great stuff.

Now the reality as it pertains to FA. First and foremost, im a big free agent guy. While the draft is important, im not one of these "only build through the draft" types, I think you can effectively build through FA if done properly. Unfortunatley, im not buying Gettleman's talk of him going to be more aggresive in FA.

First off. I dont think there are any "Target" Free agents this year. I think you have dollar tree and then it jumps to tiffanys. Seriously, who would you classify as a Target FA? Torrey Smith? He will command Tiffany's money and damn near get it. Brian Hartline? Even he will get paid a pretty penny. Then you have guys like Cobb, Maclin, Dez Bryant, Demarco Murray, Bulaga, Suh, Demarius Thomas and our very own Greg Hardy who will all command huge money.

Does anyone truly believe any of these guys will even cross Gman's mind let alone sign any of them? No way. So who is the closest to "Target"? I suppose you could argue Brandon Marshall and Percy Harvin but both are "ticking time bombs" so scratch them.

So who is left? Ted Ginn, Micahel Oher and Jacoby Jones. Ginn seems like he is flaking and not even considering us. Oher is a real possibility and Jacoby Jones is quite possible as well. The bottom line is this, I think people are going to be very disappointed in FA, I think our two "splashes" will be Oher and Jacoby Jones and the rest will be through the draft.

Using simple process of elimination, its pretty clear this is going to be a VERY quiet FA period for us. Me personally, i believe we 100% need to take a chance and splurge on one or two big money guys like a Maclin or Cobb, when was the last time we signed someone that really got the fanbase truely excited?! Unfortunatley I expect the usual basement shopping, 1-2 year vet minimum guys

I'd expect the Oher/Ginn signings, or something comparable, and a few random guys he wants to take a shot on.

Excess cap space? Cool, roll it over and let loose in the potentially loaded 2016 class. Franchised guys like D. Thomas/Dez, and potential FAs in AJ Green, Julio Jones, Alshon Jefferey, and a few other guys. And that's just the WRs.

I guess that it depends on what your definition of "notable" is.  We have already basically been told that we aren't getting any of the guys you mentioned, so it comes as no surprise.

But, personally, I think that a Spiller, Britt, Shorts, Moore, Bush, Moreno, Branch, Searcy, Skrine, or someone of that nature would be notable.  And I would expect some of them to get more than one or two year deals.  But that's just me.

I think you somewhat contradict yourself.

You believe you can build through free agency if done correctly, but then admit a very middle of the road player such as Torrey Smith will command Tiffany's dollars.

That's why the draft is so important. Because you can't build a solid team paying a guy like Torrey Smith bookoo dollars.

You need to draft and develop your own talent and fill in the gaps with free agents.

If Getts sticks to his philosophy then I expect an OT WR/PR and safety to be signed in FA. Freeing us up to draft purely BPA. No reason he can't do those things this year. There are a ton of WR in this fa class. Supply and demand. Prices will drop this year so now is the time to get someone of note.
