Bene and Luke Make NFL's All-Under 25 Team

The more I read and hear about Bene, the more I think he was the STEAL of the draft.  Hats of to BB and DG.

 

Considering he was a 5th round pick hell fuging yes he was the steal. He's gonna keep getting better too.

He was the 2nd ALL TIME NCAA leader in sacks when he declared for the draft after his Junior year. One could argue BC wasn't great so he had more opportunities but that's a silly argument. Dude is our Ray Lewis. Will be a hall of famer and will stay a panther his whole career. Only outshined by the QB. And maybe eventually not even by him.

We are getting much younger but we have to spend some money. We have some big contracts coming up tho. So that helps.

I mean not to take away from Bene, but how is he getting all this air time and hype? I think he is as good as they are hyping him up to be but he's a 5th rounder drafted by the Panthers. I didn't realize such a person could get national attention.

The Patriots put a premium on drafting intelligent players.

 

It seems the best players are.  I have noticed that many of the best DBs are smart---Sherman, Revis, Deion Sanders, etc.  We had Gamble, a pretty darn good athlete and first rounder, and I never felt that he turned the corner to be great.

 

But Minter, Eric Davis, etc. were overachievers because they used their brains.  Have not given this a ton of thought, but smart players make a difference.

Been has a great agent, he's getting all sort of tv/radio time. half the team is 25 and under, its a Young mans game.

Good lord imagine how good he will be at 26.

I love them both (no homo?). I will however wait on anointing Bene. Our system has made more than one man a better prospect than he actually was otherwise. One more year with the same trajectory and we have ourselves something.

I remember when people wondered why we moved up in the draft to pick Benwikere . People had no idea who he was. Obviously the Panthers did their research and jumped on him as the BPA. Clearly they had better than a fifth round grade on him.
