Bills pulling off another trade

I guess it all depends on what Buffalo gave up. One would think that they gave up a late round pick(s) for him. The chances of finding another Brady in the draft are slim/none so getting a guy with the tools to be a marginal starter in the NFL is probably more than they would find in the 5th or 6th round anyway.

5th (from Tampa) and a 7th round (Bills) for Vikings 6th and Cassel. Doesn't seem like that bad of a trade.

I don't expect they gave up much.

Still, pinning their hopes on Matt Cassel?  Oy

They didn't give up a lot for him. But given Rex's history of QB development, I'm assuming he needs/wants someone with starting experience since every other QB he's been near has ended up looking like a train wreck.

I suspect Cassel will too.

E J Manuel already does.

I feel for EJ Manuel. He is already suffering from a lack of confidence and now they are trading for Cassel who likely will be the starter if he plays halfway decent.  Hard for a young player to do well when he constantly has to be looking over his shoulder.

Cassel looked pretty bad in Minny.

Yeah true I guess, but I always have a hard time just accepting that these people are gonna be bad/are bad. I understand that miracles don't happen, but if he can help Manuel it could be worth something.

Anything's possible, but I don't think anyone should set their expectations too high.

Bills were a decent team before Rex arrived, he needs to show immediate improvement and probably even make the playoffs, which the Bills haven't done in a long time.

People forget they didn't actually fire their coach.

Doug Marrone thought he was such hot stuff that he opted out of his contract thinking he could get one of the numerous other jobs that were open, but they all turned him down and now he's demoted to a coordinator.

(wonder if he feels like an idiot right now)

Who? Canada?

Yeah.  That would have been quite the bidding war, there

The Browns guaranteed over $6 million to a 35 yo QB with half the starts as Cassel. The Bills gave up a backup special teamer and a half mill roster bonus to run Cassel through camp and decide what they want to do next. It would have cost more had they waited for him to be a FA.
