Bills pulling off another trade

I'm not sure this is really that bad of a trade. Rex is clearly going the John Fox route - find a veteran game manager (Cassel), team him with a powerhouse back (McCoy), and a young, promising rookie (Sammy Watkins). On defense they have great ends and tackles. TBH if Cassel doesn't make that many mistakes, I wouldn't be surprised to see Buffalo do well. Can they do well enough to make the playoffs with that model, in that division? I doubt it. I'm not even sure it can work in the league anymore.

I have no idea but the Buffalo fans seem to think that Oline is a major need of theirs. If they can address that in the draft then their team looks to have improved. While all of it does seem a bit erratic it might be effective.

Was just typing something similar...I don't see what is so crazy about the trade. I doubt they are giving up much. Rex wants to beat people 10-7 using a strong defense (which the Bills have) and a strong running game (McCoy). Just needed a stable, veteran QB as you said. Seems like the pieces to his puzzle are falling into place, just need to find out if it will work or not.

Honestly, if I'm a bills fan I like this trade. You have got a RB now you have a game manager in cassel. That just might get them to 8-8 or 9-7 in there div.

Well they were 9-7 last year with Orton under center for the most part. Adding McCoy (and Cassell) surely helped their chances of building on that.

Buffalo was 9-7 last year and they've definitely upgraded their offense with McCoy, pending he stays healthy.  Cassel is about equal to Orton so, at the very least I expect them to be around .500 again with that defense being strong again.

I guess it all depends on what Buffalo gave up. One would think that they gave up a late round pick(s) for him. The chances of finding another Brady in the draft are slim/none so getting a guy with the tools to be a marginal starter in the NFL is probably more than they would find in the 5th or 6th round anyway.

5th (from Tampa) and a 7th round (Bills) for Vikings 6th and Cassel. Doesn't seem like that bad of a trade.
