Randall Cobb, and Maclin are cool but...

Cecil Shorts is my number one guy to go after in FA... The guy has never had a QB, and still produced. He displays great route running and great hands. He's exactly what we need, and will come at a song of a price when compared to Maclin and Cobb. I'd really hate for us to go all in on a guy like Cobb because he's coming from Aaron Rogers. I'm not saying he's a bad WR but he could be a huge risk and just pan out as a 'product of the system' kinda guy. What we need to look at is a guy who has not hit his ceiling yet and has been held back by bad QB's but still showed production. (Ted Ginn showed production here imagine what a guy like Shorts would do) Shorts is that guy, and will come at a steal compared to Maclin and cobb. Maclin worries me as well because he's a burner but never showed great route running or hands even for that matter throughout his tenure with the Eagles hence why they didn't tag him. We bring in Shorts draft Dorial-Green Beckham (love the kid despite off the field issues), and all of a sudden your looking at plethora of Wr's for Cam for less then what some sucker is going to pay for Cobb or Maclin. The numbers in jacksonville are not impressive, (which I like because he will come cheap) but my god the guy had Gabbert and Bortles as his QB's.

The Eagles didn't tag Maclin because he ostensibly isn't worth that kind of money.  Now why don't the Jags want to lock up their off-again-on-again WR1 for the last few years when they have a crap load of cap space, more than any other team?  Oops, did I answer that?

Because they drafted Marquise Lee, and Allen Robinson... O and there also the Jags... Oops, did I answer that?

All I am saying is that the Eagles want Maclin, and the Packers want Cobb.  The Jags don't seem to want Shorts at any price according to what I've been reading.  He has a history of soft tissue injuries which have hampered him his whole career, even last season during his contract year.  He has been hurt so much here and there (and has played injured, slowing him down), I can't even get excited by his upside.  But if G-man signs him to a cheap deal, I will not be upset about it either. For my money Kenny Britt is a much more superior option, and Denarius Moore is a much faster and more explosive receiver than Shorts who has intriguing upside.  But, God bless him if he becomes a Panther. I hope that he stays on the field and ups his game wherever he ends up.

I actually do like him better than Britt or Moore, thats just my opinion.  The goal is not to have a guy who is a #2, but to get a guy who is a #2 but can play like a #1 when needed, and Shorts did that in spurts in Jacksonville, where as Britt and Moore just haven't done that yet.  One of them might very well be better, but IMO, they haven't really proven it on the field.  Now you are right, he's had injury concerns, and that is where his concern is for me, but I think when healthy he is a better option than Britt or Moore.
