The OTs you would take at 25 if available

Fat Bastard.. is he available.??. depends not sure.. this class is tough we traded up once for an OT.. and he worked out for a season or too :) until he decided to be a lazy off-season bastard..hence.. the nick :) So I am not sold on taking an OT in the 1st round as Gettleman seems to know his talent and and a descent OT seems feasible in the 2nd.

Brandon Scherff: He won't be there at 25. He's this years Zack Martin. Could play all 5 OL positions.

Andrus Peat. He'll play LT but if the draft were today he wouldn't be there at 25. Nate Orchard had a good game against him. In other games he looked like a pro bowl left tackle.

La'el Collins. More of a right tackle or guard. I wouldn't draft him in the 1st round because of that. As a guard, He'll be a pro bowler.

TJ Clemmings: Positives: He's everything that you want in a LT, Athletic, Great feet, Long Arms, Kick Slide and Change of direction are all there in spades. The problem is that he is raw because he's just been playing for 2 years. His technique needs some work. He has the highest ceiling of all the tackle prospects. Can you fix his technique issues? If you do, You got a pro bowl LT on your hands

Ereck Flowers: Is he a LT? Mayock compared him to Anthony Davis of the 49ers. Anthony Davis is an great right tackle. Jeremiah compared him to Cordy Glenn of Buffalo. Cordy has played LT for the Bills and has done pretty well. Who is right? If DG thinks he can play LT, go ahead and draft him, If not, pass.

Cedric Ogbuehi: There is a reason DG mentioned him in the offseason press conference. Positives: Great athlete, He can mirror speed rushers. He's very gifted in space. He fits our scheme. Negatives: His strength and technique need to be improved. His strength isn't as bad as some people make it out to be but that will improve while in a NFL weight training program. A lot of his technique issues could be solved by working on his hand placement. Obviously the ACL injury could cause him to fall on some draft boards. Because of the ACL injury, I wouldn't take him at 25 but if he's there at our 2nd round pick, I'm pulling the trigger. His issues are fixable to think the way Gettleman thinks.

DJ Humphries: Another LT prospect. He uses his athleticism in pass pro in college to get the job done which was good enough. He needs to improve the technique some but that will come with experience. Handled Shane Ray pretty darn well. Should be a solid LT in the NFL.

This tackle group is pretty darn deep like the wide receiver group from last year. There were 6 1st round wide receivers from last year's draft which enabled KB to fall to us at 28. There will be a tackle available at 25 because there are 7 1st round tackle prospects. The guys I would take right now who are realistic players to be there at 25 are TJ Clemmings, Ereck Flowers if Gettleman thinks he can play LT and DJ Humphries.

I wouldn't move on Fisher in the first, the idea though is that if someone has taken him, then by the time we get to our pick, one of the other 4 OT's would still be there, giving us a legit argument for BPA for one of them.  My thought is if any of the "given" are still there, that's your pick, if not, you really do go BPA which could mean you go Receiver, Safety, Corner, or DE, and I think you go with whoever exceeds that draft position by the most on your big board.  If theres a Corner sitting there on the board that Getts has in his top 10, watch for him to draft that and not look back.  Now, I do like Fisher enough that if he's there in the middle of the second, and we're afraid of someone snagging him, combine some picks and try to move up and get him because I don't think we can get out of day 2 without taking a tackle.

I think he can play LT at a high level still, I'd be happy if we picked him there

If there is a plug and play left tackle available at 25 when we pick, for heaven sakes pull the trigger.  If any guy we pick is going need a year or two to hone his skills in order to be a starter than they are not substantial better than guys we could pick up later in the draft.  At that point I would go with a skill position who can contribute from day 1.  If all we needed was a left tackle I would be aggressive and even consider moving up if a top 2 or 3 guy drops. But we clearly have more needs than that and need all our draft picks.  Personally,  I would look for my guy in the second round or preferably lower.  I expect we pick up someone in free agency.  BTW Remmers did play left tackle in college FWIW.

Tackles at 25 are as hit or miss as any other position. There will be a more sure thing dropping to the Panthers due to the run on tackles and receivers.

Yeah but this is more about the LT prospects themselves and their value.

I get what you're saying though but honestly, I don't see many sure things past the top 15 or so guys and it's not a given there will be a run on tackles or receivers.  The 4-3 DEs in this class are a mixed bag but there is some interesting 1st round talent at DT that may be available.

I believe theres 7 first round OTs and 1 unknown sleeper surprise. The ones I have no problems at all picking are peat, flowers, and collins. The maybes are clemmings, scherff(I'm in the OG group), and fisher. Hump I'm not buying the hype currently and havnt watch/followed enough of erving to give a good opinion.

Smith form penn state could be the sleeper surprise first rounder, it happens each year.
