Winners and Losers from Baltimore game

Couldn't see the game from here in the Pacific Northwest...had to settle for field pass, so here is my assessment:

Winner:

Goodson. We might have a secret, not-so-secret, weapon on our hands...

Kenny Moore. Too bad its at the cost of two high draft picks (Jarrett and Robinson shouldn't make the team), but we finally have a 3rd down receiver.

Eugene Robinson. Midseason form.

Losers:

Defense. Couldn't see anything, but it sounded like they were torn apart, which leads me to the next loser:

MICK MIXON!!! Would you PLEASE tell me WTF is going on!?? There were a few plays where it went, literally like this:

"Flacco hands it off to...nummmberrrrr...he goes to the right side...missed tackle there...and he goes down HARD!." With no mention of who carried the ball, how far the carry was, or where the play ended. Pathetic. Every time I hear his voice I get pissed that the Panthers let go of the true voice of the Carolinas, Bill Rosinski. Damnit.

If you're grousing about the game and you choose Jake as the target of your frustration, then you must be living in the shadow of the Arizona game or something. He had a fine game, with a good completion percentage, high yards per attempt, and a rating of around 100, which is almost exactly what he did last year at home. He took two good sacks and held on to the ball, which is a good thing. In short, he played like a good, solid veteran under center. Quarterback play is NOT our problem so far this season.

It was nice to see some D line pressure, although it didn't seem consistent. Need to rewatch the game without my beer glasses on...

O line was awesome for the most part.

Linebackers without Beason/Davis struggled a bit.

WTF is wrong with Gamble? Hopefully just a bad game that gets out of his system before 9/13.

I hope we quit drafting USC receivers.

I'll go out on a limb and say that I think he will be a starter at some point this season.

He definitely looks like he has potential to be a weapon we can develop. If we are lucky he'll be amazing and play the nickle this season.

For those of you that say jake looked good- he really didnt until baltimore had their 2nd team in at the end of the third quarter- or am I mistaken?

Look up how many times he threw the ball up until then.. then look how many times he threw it on third down vs. a draw play. We weren't converting or rather trying to convert third downs for some reason. That meant we lost valuable playing time and thus the amount of plays to base our judgment on is much smaller. Add into the fact that this is preseason (oh yes, i went there. calling out the preseason card, which for some reason doesn't seem to be a valid reason to many of you folk) and that means we're not really going for the win unless it's with the backups. We wanna see if the backups can win a football game, not the starters. Those guys are proven, won 12 games last year.

btw, I'm talking only about the offense. The defense doesn't seem to remember how to tackle. They run flailing their arms then diving at the ball carrier's feet going for a shoe string tackle only to get their hand stepped on everytime.
