Panthers Mock Draft Rounds 1 - 3

I would be stoked if the draft fell this way.

Collins could be our Clinton-Dix

Fisher could be our Taylor Lewan

O'Leary could be an underrated option for Cam and help the running game.

We could select Crowder in the 4th and fill that WR need.

I doubt Fisher is there in the 2nd, but if he is, he would be a steal, and is NFL ready.

This would be my dream first 2 picks. I still have a really really hard time seeing Collins drop to us but I fuging hope he does so badly. Our D would easily be top 3 again with adding him in addition to our other young guys improving. Not sure I'd be that happy with O'Leary but it's the 3rd round and if that's who DG and Rivera go with then I'm all for it.

Yeah, Collins would have no problem filling in for Harper. He could play SS then come up like Harper does as like a hybrid S/LB spot. I either want him or a starting caliber DE to replace Hardy. Would love a receiver too, but I'm realistic. Probably won't be anyone there worth the pick.

We need at WR in the first (Strong from Arizona State) . Fisher would be my pick in the second if available.  I think we double dip on the O-line in a later round.  I could see a DL, a CB, and possible RB in rounds 3-7

Okay, had time to think about it.

I think Collins is not a 3 down Safety as his ball skills are terrible.

Fisher is a good call but still think he goes by mid second, especially since the LT's, like QB's get overdrafted

O Leary is a football player for sure but might be at his ceiling already.

1.  Jaelen Strong  WR

2.  Cedric Ogbuehi  OT

3.  Preston Smith   DE

Would work better for me at this moment.  But it is all gonna change with FA and Pro days

I think the main problems with Collins, regardless of how good of a player you think he is, is how much can he help the Panthers relative to another position.

I wouldn't even be against taking a secondary player in the first if he was known as a coverage player. You have to build your team around your division, and no one in the South even bothers running the ball. Yeah it'd be nice to get a Kam Chancellor, but Seattle lucked in to him, and wasting very valuable resources to try to recreate that in Carolina is foolish.

Even assuming he becomes worth the draft pick (whatever that means to you), is the relative improvement at the safety position as valuable as say Left Tackle? Or Wide Receiver? Two positions where there will be options? Probably not.

Is that improvement at safety worth as much as say a first round pick in 2016 and an additional 2015 2nd, were that situation to arise?

As far as drafting a blocking tight end in the third, that's just lunacy. You can find players like that on the street if you prioritize it. the Panthers already have a physically dominant tight end with little pass catching ability, who was ironically also a zod favorite.

If 90% of Collins game is stopping the run, but 90% of what he will be asked to do at the next level is stopping the pass, then you have to resolve this issue.

I don't see him as a center fielder at this point, but I will try to watch more vids

Half look at combine performance as any sort of indication of a player's ability.

The other half understand football.

The combine only truly matters when someone performs way worse or way better than expected. That gets scouts' and GMs' attention and sends them back to look at the tape again. When a TE or H-back runs a 4.93...
