Let's talk Kony Ealy

Considering I think Hardy was more of a product of our interior line, I am not sure they will run out to spend a high pic on a position that we are not hurting at.

I think now is the time to build around Cam (more like 4 years ago as well) and get our offense jamming....

Ealy will do well and im excited to see him in his second year.

DG will probably find a guy in the later rounds to develop.

I certainly don't dispute our need for another DE with the likely departure of Hardy, but I'm just not seeing it in this draft. Outside of 2 or 3 guys I don't see any true high potential 4-3 DEs. And I don't really think those 2 or 3 will be available. AND I think our need for a LT and WR in is greater. So while we need a DE bad, our pass rush without Hardy was laughable last year compared to the year before, I'm not confident it'll happen this year. Wouldn't surprise me if we take one early, but wouldn't surprise me if we don't either.

Having Kony doesn't affect anything.

Gettleman loves having his young pass rushers, which is a good thing.

I doubt we'll sign any proven pass rusher. Maybe someone who has been a backup, and is hungry for a chance to make an impact.

I don't expect Kony to make a huge step u0 in production in his second season, as it is usually the third season that DE's make the big leap. Would.love for Kony to out do the norm, but i won't be holding my breath.

CJ coming on down the stretch really helped too. He ended up with 8.5 regular season sacks but didn't record his first sack until week 5. He added 2 more sacks in the playoffs. Ealy had 4 regular season sacks, with 3 of those coming in the last 3 weeks when he had 1 sack in each of those games. He had no sacks in the playoffs.

I hope we can extend CJ for 4-5 years to carry him through his prime here in Carolina. I like Ealy, but I'm not sure he'll ever be a sack monster. He strikes me more as a Mike Rucker solid all-around complimentary DE than he does a real terror like Peppers or CJ. He just doesn't seem to have that burst.

look, life is more run when you're loaded at DE.  I hope we draft one in the first

2 rounds.  I think we can Preston from Miss St in Round 2.

Like the Hunter kid from LSU, Smith will likely be WAY gone by the time the bottom of the 2nd rolls around.  Hunter and Smith are both knocking on the door of being FIRST round prospects.  The likelihood of either sitting their in the bottom of the 2nd round is close to nil.
