Stevie Johnson Released by 49ers (Update: Rotoworld was wrong, will be asked to take pay cut first)

Sometimes I wonder if some Huddlers even watch football outside of the Panthers. Then I remember that I am a true NFL fanatic.

In other words, Johnson is not a bum. Nor is he Mike Wallace. Nor is he overrated (in reality, or in fantasy) He is a shifty, veteran route runner who consistently gets separation. Yes, he isn't the fastest, but he is savvy. His only real knock is the occasional drop.

The fact that Johnson has not been released yet is just another indication that everyone needs to be able to edit their own titles.  If not, then I would hope that at least one mod worth his salt would edit the titles in these instances.

He has some fire in him and can make some great catches.

Will people get mad when I say he's a better football player than Cotchery?

Always thought he was a great receiver

All one really has to do is look at their career stats.  Johnson has hit 1000 yards three times with suspect QB play.  Cotchery has only done it once in 11 years. I don't think Johnson is great, but he is certainly good, and still can arguably get better from a production standpoint given he right circumstances.  I would love to have him here on any level. When he was the WR1 in Buffalo, he produced at his highest level, so he can certainly play second or third fiddle very effectively.

    • What are the matchups, stats and superlatives?   I think this will be a hard game. Bucs are a very balanced team on offense:  7th  in total yards per game, 7th in passing, 10th in rushing. Baker is having another career year even better than last year but despite missing his Godwin and Evans. Bucs defense is poor (29th) particularly passing defense, but we’re also depleted in our receiving with Coker and Sanders likely out. Running Chuba is key but their defense is better against the run. (16th) I think this is likely going to require us to score a lot of points to keep up and hopefully the home field advantage tips the scale in our favor. My other concern is our run defense and being able to stop their rookie study Bucky Irving who the Bucs have shifted more carries to recently and he’s averaging 5.4 ypc and knows how to get into the endzone with 5 TDs so far.
    • This is nonsense and you know it. People will be happy when we are consistently and convincingly winning games against good teams. There are people in here talking down to others after losses and barely beating the terrible NY Giants. If you want to strut around here like only you are a real Panthers fan and rage pooing posts because your jimmies are rustled then hey good luck with all that. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
    • Who had the massive meltdown last year? Hope they feel better this year.
