Panthers Final Decision On Hardy : No Thanks

I Mean He Was Found Guilty, but he filed an appeal which granted him a trial de novo which nullified the original conviction until the jury trial could take place. it's a quirk in north carolina law. then the DA couldn't track down nicole holder earlier this month which kind of makes it hard to go forward with a trial so the case was dismissed. tldr he was never found "not guilty".

One sexist Feminist thought he was "guilty" and tbh I don't even think she did. The judge just hates guys and wanted to punish him

How much of your salary are you willing to wager that Hardy doesn't get in trouble again?

You're certain he won't, right? Should be no problem to put your money where your mouth is, then.

I'd bet $500 hardy doesn't get "in trouble" again. And by that I mean something that would cause him to get suspended. Not like a speeding ticket or something. And for the record, he was falsely accused this time and it's bs

hardy had turned down big money before so an extension wasn't going to happen easily.

what's the alternative, let him walk for nothing?  isn't that what everyone has a shitty diaper over right now?

I think that everyone is so perturbed now because they are just mad about different aspects of the situation. I would guess that most are upset due to the FO's general choir boy mentality, and its caving in to public pressure before the dust had barely even been stirred up, much less settled.

As for letting Hardy walk, that's reportedly what they were going to do anyway (if you believe Voth and Igo).  That's in fact what they are doing now.  The difference is that we missed out on a young, quality LT who could have protected Cam's blind side for years to come.  If we couldn't outright sign Veldheer when he became a free agent, we may have been able to negotiate with all parties involved into some type of tag and trade deal---and possibly even have had Denarius Moore and/or a pick thrown into the deal---that would have sent Hardy to Cali, and Veldheer to Charlotte.  It just didn't make much sense to "rent" a guy that you never intended to keep, while simultaneously betting your franchise QB's health and your offense's ability to efficiently and successfully produce at a high level.  This was not a case of setting your team up to succeed.

But, it's water under the bridge.  Gettleman is still a relatively new GM, so he is still afforded some mulligans (outside of the normal gambles, failures and successes that are part of a GM's job).  I just hope that he learns from this error.  To me, you shouldn't tag someone unless you plan to keep them, or have a specific deal in place that sends them elsewhere.

Other team's washouts and rookies don't really get me ezcited.

Maybe there is a young unrestricted FA DE in his prime that maybe a little troubled so he ended up on the low end the market that is an all-pro that we can get...... oh fugging wait.

So...Zero chance of building an effective defense unless we throw money at Hardy?

He's our only chance at a pass rush?

I'm not going to start hand wringing over why we won't sign him back. Just considering the huge deal we'd have to beat already gives me pause. I guess prioritizing financial needs isn't armchair GM's forte. This will be a wait and see situation. The deal will get done and I have a feeling that most will end up saying "eh, no way we should be beating that offer"

Neither Pep or Jenkins is here!! Talking about history has nothing to do with the now.. Your statement was a stupid way to act like we don't need him.. We might not need him but that has nothing to do with how great he is compared to other DE.. Also to act like we are better without a top 5 pass rusher is crazy.. We might be good but with him we were great and on the level with the Seahawks. .

Yes, Peppers is gone. Now Hardy will be. Life.

We don't need him. Some people want him....want isn't need.

What I am saying is how did our front look at the end without him? Yes we are better with him but him being gone wasn't something we didn't already deal with. Focus at the end of last year wasn't the DE spot....it was our O and secondary. So Hardy despite being good isn't a huge blow bc we HAVE other talent up front. When you have a collectively good front one guy doesn't make or break u....and breaking the bank on isn't needed

Sorry, I was hoping for a great defense, not just effective.

Anyone who thinks we are better without Hardy need to turn in their football knowledge cards on their way out.
