ESPN's Real Plus-Minus

So I'm kinda a fan of the +/- in basketball. It shows how much your team outscores or is outscored when you are in the game. Granted, there are outside factors to just your play that affect your +/-. From my analysis it looks like ESPN ranks player's offensive +/- as well as defensive +/- to see which end of the floor you contribute on. Here's my look at their stats.

First off, Charlotte's Prodigal son Stephen Curry leads the NBA in Real Plus-Minus at 8.59 followed by Harden (8.05) and Westbrook (7.36). Charlotte's leader is suprisingly Cody Zeller, who is 28th in the association in overall RPM.

Looking at defensive RPM. I assumed Kidd-Gilchrist would be Charlotte's leader defensively in this category. However, it is actually Zeller. Zeller ranks 13th in the league in defensive RPM. He is in good company as Anthony Davis is 12th and Tyson Chandler is 14th. Looks like Zeller needs to get more defensive respect around here. Unfortunately his offensive RPM is -.05 which is good for 157th in the NBA. Nothing to brag about.

Kidd-Gilchrist is ranked 23rd in defensive RPM and 265th offensively.

Al Jefferson is only the 63rd rated Center in the NBA. 59th on offense and 58th defensively.

Charlotte's top 5:

1. Zeller

2. Kidd-Gilchrist

3. Walker

4. Marvin Williams (0.8)

5. Bismack (.02)

Surprising? Do stats lie? Discuss.

Biyombo, Zeller, and MKG are all decent parts to building a great team. What we are missing in a great scorer. Kemba is more of a secondary scorer, Al sucks ass this season and no one else on our team could average 20 PPG even if they played 48 minutes a game.

God, times were simpler when we though Al would be our primary guy, Kemba would be our secondary scorer and Lance would be our third option. Things went to hell so fast. Charlotte NBA basketball is cursed.
