Rams release DT Kendall Langford

Every time a player gets released I see one of these threads.  However, I actually believe Langford would be a good pick-up for Carolina and a Gettleman type player.  He is 6'6" 315lb 29 year old DT who was buried behind a lot of talent.  With the emergence of Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers his 6 million cap hit was expendable.

Nippleshorts will definitely be eyeing talent that hits the market and Langford could be a good backup here for a solid rotation at the DT position.

I think he'll be out of our budget, as someone will pay him starter money, but I wouldn't be against it if the price is right.

Would be an excellent pickup for a good price. Interior rotation will be great.

With the depth of DL in the draft, I would think that Gettleman would target a much cheaper back-up than this.

Yup  not a bad option at the right cost. Have a feeling Colin or Edwards or both will be gone. He's not really a huge space-eater but we will need bodies and I suspect we add a massive run stopper in the draft. We have that guy Love that was previously in New England as well.

Looks like the Rams have left the door open to possibly re-sign Langford at a reduction, but he wants to find a starting job.  He definitely wouldn't find that in Carolina.  However, being on a team with a starting caliber QB could be tempting. 

 

Pro football focus had him ranked 36 out of 81 lineman and he was just a rotational player.

We will need some rotational guys and Langford would get a good amount of snaps if he was with us. I don't know how our staff feels about Love but we need to find some quality back up defensive linemen.

Good player but we have more pressing needs than DT right now.
