Eagles to Trade Up to #1 Overall?

The two QBs aside, giving up a ton of present and future picks to trade up like that would be the stupidest thing that the Eagles and Chip Kelly could do.

Now whether the Bucs would profit from such a trade?  You would think that they would... except that the Rams had one of those trades in their favor a few years ago and they're still not winning ball games.  The Browns and the Falcons as well... and where has that gotten either of those teams?

So as others have pointed out above me, its no guarantee for either team.

I don't care either way.  Drafting a QB #1 overall is a roll of the dice, but if you get that roll right, it can set you up for success for the next 10+ years.  Trading for a bunch of picks is a roll of the dice too.  The Rams netted a huge windfall when they traded the #2 pick to Washington who then took RG3, but somehow both teams managed to fail on that one.  They both still suck.

If the Bucs think Winston is a franchise QB and they can trust him to keep his nose clean, they should just sit tight and take him.  If they don't and the opportunity exists, they should try to move that pick for everything they can get.

The guy who first reported DeSean Jackson could get released last year is "becoming more and more convinced daily that the Eagles are trading up to #1 prior to the draft." Still seems unlikely to me as they would probably be able to get Mariota if they traded up to 6 as none of the teams after the Bucs until the Jets seem to be in the market for a QB early, and the Jets could probably use the picks. But, the question must be asked...

Which would you rather have happen?

1. Bucs draft Winston #1 overall.

2. Bucs get a ton of picks and Foles from the Eagles, but no Winston.

I want Winston in the division. People always talk about upside. His "downside" is HUUUUGE!

With that being said, I think the Eagles are more interested in Mario. If the trade interest is real, they'd likely have a deal set up with Tennessee that is dependent upon the Bucs going with Winston (which, given his geographic presence, and how much crap the Jags got for not nabbing The Golden Calf of Bristol to fill the stands, seems to be inevitable).

I'm just some dude, but I also find the number of picks hard to believe. The guess for #2 was something like 4 picks that included their 1st both this year and next. How valuable can the 2nd overall pick really be? The Jaguars have had picks in the top 10 for the last 7 years in a row, and they are still horrible.

I don't know why they would trade for the #1 overall pick when Tampa has clearly said they prefer Winston over Mariota. Tennessee has other needs and would be retarded to pass on Leonard Williams,Oakland and Jacksonville have young qbs that were just drafted while the Redskins have a lot invested in RG3 so there's a big chance they won't draft a QB. The jets are the biggest threat to draft a QB at the 6th spot which would cost a lot less than the #1 overall pick. The sixth overall pick would be the better deal for the Eagles. I know people diss on Chip Kelly but I doubt he would be that dumb.

Winston is coming to Tampa. We might as well accept that. That said, he's not Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers, so I say bring it on. We've already got Matt Ryan and Drew Brees in our division.

Not if lovie wants a established Vet and a way to build his defence and run game. I could see him making this move, drafting the best DE or DT available, then picking up a RB and CB in later rounds.

I agree with top dawg.

We went toe to toe with the NFC champion Seahawks, and I feel like we were at the time like 40% what we can be when Gettleman maxes out this team in a few years, having his finger print the only one found..

I like what we are doing and Im confident we can beat anyone real soon.

Plus the Bucs have the #1 pick for a reason. I dont care who they get or how many, they have a long way to go.

Rams got a shitload of picks, and have they even been above .500? Sure they dont have a QB but still. They had a goldmine of picks, early pics in that draft.

poo teams will be poo

You just outlined why having a franchise QB is what you need to win this league. So going by your logic you are on board with keeping Winston out of the south. Thanks
