things have happened. We have a coaching staff in place and they have already determined how they plan to go into this season and what they plan to do defensively.....it doesn't fit based on our roster of talent.

like I said, I'm not going to but a spin on anything.....as Fox says, it is what it is. Yeah, I'm sure he got a good sleep last night b/c like you said....it is only preseason and the real games haven't even started yet :rolleyes5:

HC's never rest easy. Win or lose. Preseason or not.

DO they have work to do? Yes. Plenty.

but there is no cause for saying he wrong personnel are there for the scheme and the wrong coach is there for the personnel. He just got here. It will take time. Bitching won't make it next year or help make any improvements this year. I understand being upset but I don't understand anyone throwing a temper tantrum and throwing everyone under the bus because their flawed team does not make them happy.

Especially in ******* pre season!

sure you can say that....like i said we are built to run. If a OC came in and and decided who was going to run the Indy offense here and but that on Jake.....we could easily say that is the wrong scheme to bring in here w/ our offensive roster.

I see things differently than you. The only real difference is that you think you are right and others are wrong. I'm just giving my 2 cents..... Last year showed this roster can't pull off what Meeks/Fox claim and have indicated they are going to do imo.

a lot of things from last preseason clearly foreshadowed what we saw in the regular season.....

I don't think Baltimore is an average offense. Flacco is good. Maybe not as good as we made him look, but good none the less. No one except Meeks and Fox knows what kind of defense we are gonna have this year. I have seen all the units look good to bad, just not at the same time. For instance the first week the defensive line looked horrible, but has progressively looked better. The Secondary started looking great and has gotten worse, and the LB core (not really the starting LB's so no idea) has missed lots of tackles and made lots. Once an actual game plan is in place I could see either really good things or really bad. Also, playing NYG, MIA, BMore, Steelers are not bottom of the barrel teams. I will judge this season like Fox(uuugghh), take it quarter by quarter. TBH it could go really bad or really good imo.

Honestly, IMO, the problems in the secondary are related to the problems up front.

If you can't get pressure on a quarterback, you can't expect a cornerback, safety or linebacker to be able to cover for 6 or 7 seconds. A secondary's best friend is a strong pass rush.

You'll get no disagreement from me. The defensive line is definitely the weak link of the team. I'm just saying that I haven't seen anything from the secondary to inspire any confidence in me in addition to the weak d-line.

How are you going to judge a brand new DC on a few pointless preseason games? Wake up. Our first string D isn't even on the field after the first quarter.

I wouldn't take this thread too seriously. Cyberjag defended Henning after he was fired too. Now he's defending Turgo. How you can judge a DC on 3 preseason games is beyond me. If the same sh*t is happening by mid-season then we can judge, but not now. It's too early.

No matter what D coordinator you have this is Fox Defence. If he wanted too have a better Defence he would have brought in a better D coordinator. Meeks is the same as Turgovac he just a figure head so Fox isn't spending all his time on the Defensive side during practices. He will be in all D meeting and looking over Meeks shoulder all year the same he did with Turgo. If the Defence sucks like it look like it will it will be on Fox. We could have gotten G Williams instead of letting the Saints improve their D but Fox doesn't want any opposition too his ideal's of what a Defence should look like. Well now it is what it is.

DING DING DING DING! We have a winner! It doesnt matter who the DC is. They are nothing but Fox puppets! Why so many people on this forum refuse to accept this very simple fact is mind blowing!

So far this is what it's looking like. I'll wait near mid season. If nothing's changed, I'll believe this 100%. You mentioned what I said before. Why go after the freaking Colts DC whose defenses have been ranked near the bottom of the league? So far the answer seems to be 'cause Fox just wanted a Yes man.

The Colts defense finished last season ranked 11th in the league. They gave up a whopping 4 more total points than the Giants. All while Manning was struggling to come back from his knee problems for the first half of the season and wasn't putting up typical Manning numbers.

It's really not the end of the world folks. I'm as worried about the tackling as anybody else, and I'm very dissappointed in Chris Gamble's performance last night, but those things are correctable, and we haven't even seen the schemes that Meeks will be running when the score actually counts.

But that's not really the point. The point is you went after a D-coordinator that coach under a Defensive HC. So what really did he bring new too the table? He was hired because he knows how too run somebody else Idea of defence not his own. If you wanted a better defence then Fox should have brought in somebody who coach under a offensive HC. Then you can bring a mix of both idea's too make a pretty good defence. No Fox likes what he does and just wants somebody too manage what he likes on Defence. Well now this is what you have.

Why the defence look good under Del Rio. Del Rio had his ideas and Fox had his ideas and they mixed too have a good Defence. Fox didn't jump into Del Rio d meeting and takeover like he did with Turgo. Del Rio was able too run thr Defence with Fox's inputs not orders. Plus this was also the year after the team had went 1-15 so no one can say the talent change. Only new player you had was J pep everybody else was on that 1-15 team.

    • I'm absolutely amazed at how many people actually think this was a great move. Like did y'all just become Panthers fans yesterday? When has re-signing a RB to a big money contract ever worked out for this franchise? DeAngelo Williams? Jonathan Stewart? Christian McCaffrey? All of those re-signings were mistakes. Giving a RB big money has a terrible track record of ROI, period. It's a draft 'em and let 'em walk position. A big part of the Panthers' roster management issues over the years and a big part of why we have historically been inconsistent before finding our consistency as perennial cellar dwellers under Tepper is because we have always fundamentally struggled to understand positional value. We have always tied up far too many premium resources be it cap space or draft picks in non-premium positions. We currently have a ton of money tied up in RBs and interior OL. The doom cycle just keeps repeating.
    • To demand more money you have to have suitors. What other franchise is overpaying for RBs?   Henry/Barkley were both free and had limited suitors. The position isn't that valuable in the grand scheme of things.
    • 1) Still young at 25. Good contract for the production, especially at only 15 million guaranteed. 2) Investing in a core offensive identity. An elite running back corps is a force multiplier with our upgraded interior line.  3) Acknowledging performance and retaining developed talent sets an important precedent for a young, rebuilding team. 4) This “devaluation” of running backs perspective seems to be waning. Setting aside the Chiefs and their hall of fame coach/QB/TE combo, the tops teams have all invested in RBs, many of which were free agents. Lions with a contract to Montgomery and first round Ghibbs. Ravens sign Henry. Eagles sign Barkley. Vikings sign Jones. Packers sign Jacobs. Commanders sign Ekeler. Texans sign Mixon. Bills have their second rounder Cook who filled in after 3rd rounder Moss was underwhelming (who the Bengals then signed this offseason but is hurt). The niners moved for CMC. Steelers Harris was a first rounder. Falcons have Bijan playing well.
