maybe the DC isnt the problem?

ding, ding, ding. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Well, first Meeks isn't the type DC I would want my team to go after but at the end of the day he is running Fox's schemes......just w/ his own style. Fox has a reputation of being a defensive coach....but he really isn't much of a defensive mind. He has had some great DL talent he relied on in the past....form a coaching/scheme aspect his teams really lack a lot to be desired. Trgo was a scapegoat......but at least in his heart he was an aggressive minded coach. That imo caused conflict but he was running Fox's lame scheme and wanted to be aggressive. Meeks from what I have heard from Indy fans doesn't want to be aggressive....and therefore it is a match made in heaven for Fox....but will be a disaster in Carolina w/ this roster.

this is ridiculous

anyone judging Meeks at this point should put their lumpy noggin back in the fvckin sand and start suckin.

I am not a fan of his nor do I think he sucks. You just CANNOT know that one way or the other yet...AT ALL!

there is plenty to judge. Fox isn't new to football and neither is Meeks.....odds are very high we know exactly what the defensive scheme is going to look like this year. How do we know? B/c Fox has been here for years and we know what he likes to do.....we also know what the guys on our roster can do in that type of scheme. Is our DL good enough to rely on the front 4? No. Is our secondary good enough to play soft coverage w/ no pressure? No. Those aren't wild assumptions and can be talked about.

so you think all the stops have been pulled?

you think the sum of our defensive prowess had been on display for this season already?

if you really think so don't waste your time watching any more games or posting on the huddle about the season.

Thank you,

from all of us

How are you going to judge a brand new DC on a few pointless preseason games? Wake up. Our first string D isn't even on the field after the first quarter.

if our OC in the preseason indicated he was going to try to run Indy's offense and put that load on Jake? You don't think we could make a judgement on a offensive scheme/plan they would be trying to bring to this team? It would be the wrong fit based on our offensive roster.

We don't have the talent to do what Fox/Meeks are showing they are going to be doing this year. Preseason scores are pointless....what occurs on the field isn't. The D is being put in a position to fail imo this year....we have the talent on D to be competitive if used properly. It is painfully obvious what they want to do doesn't suit this roster (last year was a prime example)........learning Meeks' system is just wishful thinking and they aren't sucking this bad b/c it takes that long. Sure, it takes a while to learn a new system....but you can tell this roster is suited for it. Look at other teams who have installed completely NEW defenses this year.....and look how well they look this preseason b/c the talent fits the new schemes.

CRA,

Why are you desperately trying to rationalize doom in the nicest and sincerest way possible. You win. We are gonna suck all year.

Happy?

No pressure on the QB = secondary looking silly.

We're not getting enough pressure from the defensive line, so it's time to start putting in some creative blitz packages.

We made Joe Flacco look like Joe Montana last night, LOL

I really don't think it was the defensive line's fault. Most of those passes were quick timing passes between the receiver and quarterback or dump-off routes to the backs and tight ends. You have to cover the guys early to allow the defense to get there. Gamble and Marshall didn't break up one pass I saw all night. Not one. And they weren't having double moves put on them. It was simple go up 15 yards and turn around. We didn't bump them off the line disrupt them or even play close enough to them to dissuade Flacco from throwing the ball. You can't lay this on on the line in my opinion. It was incredibly poor secondary and linebacker play and shoddy tackling.

I'm just being honest and I'm not going to try to put a postive spin on everything Carolina. Offensively, we will be fine. The offense carried the team the entire 2nd half of the season when we were one of the worst defensive units in the league (2nd half of last season).

You can try to paint me as going over the top and preaching doom if you want......but we all know the strength's and weaknesses of the defensive roster we have (after all we have watched them play in real games and preseason games). We aren't built to run what Fox/Meeks want to do this year......that is just a fact imo. There just isn't much to support the "everything on defense will be fine when the season starts argument" b/c the games will actually matter and the team will some be/play so much different.

OK.

This is all I had to read.

You don't HAVE to spin anything. NOTHING has happened. I don't want anyone to spin anything. I'm not. There is NO reason to believe we have seen all we are going to see from our team this season and there are MANY reasons to expect more to come.

If you are truly being honest you will decide for yourself to hang it up for the season. I just think you want to complain about something and the something you are choosing to complain about happens to be one of the most irrelevant somethings that could possibly be complained about.

You know we are injured. You know our defense is new. You know we have new coaches all over the place. You know John Fox plays close to the vest and does not give a schit about preseason games at all.

you are not stupid

you need to rationalize a bit and wait to see what product makes it to the field. The time for bitching is a few games in not a few games prior to starting. Give us a break.

things have happened. We have a coaching staff in place and they have already determined how they plan to go into this season and what they plan to do defensively.....it doesn't fit based on our roster of talent.

like I said, I'm not going to but a spin on anything.....as Fox says, it is what it is. Yeah, I'm sure he got a good sleep last night b/c like you said....it is only preseason and the real games haven't even started yet :rolleyes5:
