Mock Draft by Daniel Jeremiah

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I think that mock is actually very good.  I'd probably rather have Peat than Clemmings, but with the glut of talent that seems to be valued around where we pick, I trust Gettleman to pick the best of what's available.

I am very much warming to the idea of Strong in the 1st and an OT in the second though...hoping that's a possibility.

Benjamin played at a top school in big games (the biggest).

Doesn't mean he wasn't raw. He also was largely a one year freak who got by on being a freak. He is closer to the opposite end of the spectrum than closer to the one you would put a Luke type safe first rounder. Research or not his other pick had a heart "issue" that scared teams.

So I wouldn't say Dave likes safe picks. He likes good ones though

Didn't say he was going for a "safe" pick.  Just that he goes much more off of what he's seen in actual games played than measurables and combine numbers.  And there is some evidence to suggest that level of competition matters.

Has incredible LT feet.

Give me clemmings.

But unfortunately has never actually played LT. Usually you see college LT's slide to RT in the pros to start. I like his size and yeah, there is awesome potential but I just don't know. He got beat on inside moves easily at the Senior Bowl but looked great with guys on the outside. I rather grab a more proven football player with our 1st.

Which brings me to a point Hurney made today about Funchess and his 40. He said the Panthers had Boldin rated a 1st rounder prior to the combine but then dropped him past where they took Nelson the C in the second. Boldin went 4 picks later. Oh, what might have been. And yet that dufus didn't learn his lesson years later passing on Jeffery for Amini.

Good Lord, I'm glad we have Gman today.

Clemmings down falls is strictly because of experience, and can be coached up, and learned with experience. has to have confidence in his athleticism, which is very good for an OT. he has only played OT for 2 years. he has a very clean kick slide, and really good foot quickness. you can see the basketball background when sliding his feet, looks like a 3, sliding his feet to stay in front of someone. had several D1 basketball scholarships on the table coming out of HS, but chose football.

now many of you didn't want KB because of such "rawness", but that seemed to work out pretty good. Clemmings is some what raw, because of time at the position, but he would come in and start at RT as a rookie.
