I just met a former Carolina Panther

More fans should weigh their jersey purchases as you just did.

I use the shotgun approach. If it says panthers my wallet flies out and I own the item before I know what happened.

haha if ever i get rich, i might transition to that approach. for now, i dont even have the spare cash to dish out 150 bucks for a panthers jersey on a whim.

i have to budget just to ensure i can make it to some games this season. haha.

Former Indianapolis Colt and Carolina Panther, Pastor Derwin Gray of Transformation Church in Charlotte. He was drafted by the Colts in 1993 and joined the Panthers for one season in 1998 (number 44).

he gave a stirring sermon this morning in chapel at my college.

Gray's wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derwin_L._Gray

Did you ask if he went to Deangelo's mother's funeral?

Meh, i didn't realize there are people around here who haven't met Derwin. He makes his rounds of the community. He's pretty low on the football totem pole to be getting a thread just for meeting him but you seemed pretty geeked, so congrats.

well... you might be pretty geeked too if he was the first Panther you have ever had the opportunity to meet 1-to-1 and shake hands with, like he is for me. haha.

hell... if i had the chance to meet Armanti Edwards or Pickles or David Gettis, i would have jumped on it. its the concept of, for the first time, meeting someone who played for the team you love, no matter how good they were or how talented. i would still love to meet Kuechly and Cam and Davis and Smitty, or any of the talented players that have set foot on the turf of BoA in Panther blue. But Gray is the closest ive come so far, and im thankful for it. :)

Dont listen to the detractors man.  I still get geeked out of my mind when i meet the guys.

I actually called Star "Mr. Lotulelei".  My voice may have shook but its all hearsay and misrememberings.

yea i was in an auditorium full of fellow college students and had to push my way to the guy. i was stoked to meet him. he seems like a stand up individual. i was not ashamed in the slightest, with a line forming behind me, to shake his hand like three times and get a picture with him haha. its not everyday that you get to meet a former NFL player.
