Crazy that Hardy was the only one of the Panthers organization to show up at the funeral. I would have at least thought Stewart would have been there they both seemed like they were genuine friends. Maybe they just weren't as close as they appeared to be on the sidelines kind of a crazy situation.

But to answer the question No I don't. I do believe he has the right to be upset. His mother is the reason every single sport dons pink in October not to mention when you're on a football team I don't care if it's high school, college, semi pro, or the NFL the guys in those locker rooms are supposed to be your brothers. I guess money just seems to change everything doesn't it?

I've been trying to reconcile the idea that the RBs have always seemed close (especially Stew and him) yet none of them showed up at the funeral. I can only think of 2 scenarios.

1: if I'm a multimillionaire ... I am not in the US in the middle of May.

2: his relationship with team members wasn't as strong as it appeared. Maybe he alienated everyone?

No not at all. Seriously though I probably wouldn't go to the funeral of even my closest friends mom unless I had a relationship with his mom as well. The only thing that would get me to show up is if the person specifically expresses a desire that I show up.

When a friend loses a family member I will do my best to support and send my condolences, but the funeral is very personal to the family and friends of the deceased.

No. I have only ignored two people in all my years on the Huddle (Dexterity, and some guy who doesn't post much), and if I had to ignore a mod, then that person shouldn't be a mod.  I know that CRA didn't care for Williams on a professional level, and I am not surprised Panthro feels the same, but I really don't remember them bashing Deangelo on a personal level (not saying that they didn't, but I didn't see it). Sure, it's one thing to say the guy got overpaid for warming the bench, and it's another thing to say that he is a social media oddity that grated on your nerves (which is a personal problem), but it's quite another to say that he is being petty and vindictive at a time when he is getting cut and still feeling some type of way about how J-Rich---in particular---handled his mother's passing.

thank you.  some people can't separate the two.

I would love Williams even today if he had a salary/cap hit a 32 year old RB of his current ability deserved....and proper insertion into the committee.  As for the years after his contract, it was never about him personally.....about the scenario the FO created.  Most simply saw Williams and negative and flipped.

Same stuff when I dared mention prior to 2013 that 89 was likely done anytime now....I was deemed to "hate" 89.  No, he is my favorite player to date.  But with a new GM/HC that didn't draft.....an old man being a pain in the rump was going to be shown the door if he didn't retire early on his own.  Life and business of the NFL.

I also thought Beason was done.....then that mean I hated him too.  Beason was awesome.  But injury is injury.  Can't hope everyone will defy odds and be a Thomas Davis.  Gotta play the smart odds majority of the time and move on.

I disliked Dave when he was hired....but he pretty much has removed all the real issues this team has.  I like his approach.  No more soapboxes for me in sight.

I don't think it tarnished his image...guys tend to struggle with being cut/released (especially the highly paid former stars).   That isn't uncommon.

You aren't gonna see a lot of guys handle it like Delhomme.....the 89, 34, maybe even Beason slipped a little jab here or there is more likely IMO.

So he remains what he was.  Our best RB to date.  No one will really care he got upset about the owner and his mom.

Needle doesn't move IMO

Honestly, I'm little surprised that JR didn't show for his mom's funeral. Not sure what the etiquette protocol is, as far as how close you have to be to someone to attend their family members' funeral. I'm also not sure whether or not Deangelo should feel pissed.

Me personally? I might feel a little slighted if no one from the company I worked for showed up to my mom's funeral.

No because I Know some stuff bout DWill that is fairly scandalous... I only judge him for on the field stuff tho.

I know some scandalous stuff as well.  We should cross check stories sometime.

Much as I like both you guys and don't doubt your knowledge, I hate when people do the "I know stuff...but I can't tell" thing.  Drives me nuts

But hey... B)
