Cardinals Release Ted Ginn

Didnt gman/rivera say something about not bringing in players exclusively for one position?  I don't see them bringing in ginn just to be a return man.

No they actually said the opposite that they would bring in players who could be just special teams guys.

Exactly. This is why bringing back Ginn on a 1-year deal makes so much sense.

We're going into the draft looking for a WR/KR but if we don't draft one (or reach for one) we already have an excellent KR/PR in Ted Ginn.

This what Gettleman meant when he said you use Free Agency to set up your draft.

dont see him as an answer... but a step in the right direction. still want to see what kind of receiver we draft.

positives:

speed - will make a defense respect us as a deep threat... opening up things for KB and Olsen. could get interesting seeing him and philly brown in some fancy reverses.

ST- (goodbye Bersin) versatility

CAMistry- he has seen his most success as a receiver with Cam as his QB.

had a down year, we should be able to sign him for cheap.

negatives:

im sure there are some, but they really dont come to mind right now.

Bring him back.

I like to only remember the things that I say that are correct. But last offseason I said out of all the people released or allowed to walk (including Smitty) that two players we would miss most were Mike Mitchell and Ted Ginn Jr.

I still stand by that belief.

Yes he had some drops, but his speed helped every other receiver so much that season, and he is a proven punt returner.

This makes a lot of sense for us, and for Ginn.

The ever present caveat though is "for the right price"

I said ginn too omg

Also, aren't players that are released before free agency eligible to sign with a new team immediately? So we can start negotiating with him now, right?

yes, but this is where people want to get themselves heartbroken.  Just because a guy is available right now, or just because the team has two dollars to rub together right now, doesn't mean they're going to sign guys right now or day 1 of UFA.

They're still going to wait out some guys looking for the big payday and grab players after that.

not that mark s isn't a good poster, but in general you want your featured news on a heavily-trafficked site to sustain a certain quality and brand. if the ted ginn thread literally reads "cards released ted gin wot do u guys think" and it gets ten thousand hits, you're losing the opportunity to make it yourself with a bit of commentary and brand flair and keep your product consistent.

you can learn a lot about business from watching breaking bad.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand.
