Agent ego a factor in Newton contract?

Mr. Scot

Sounds like Florio could just be making a story out of nothing, which PFT has been known for.

Sure, Cam's agent used to be Wilson's agent, but does Florio know him personally?

Exacly. This is what Florio does, he knows as much as people here on the huddle, pretty much nothing.

He doesn't claim this to be a reported fact. It's just an off season speculation/opinion piece about how human nature may affect negotiations based on the situation.

Manufacturing drama, which is about 90% of what they do. People eat it up.

wasnt Bus Brett Favre's agent? Remember how Favre played teams each of the last 2-3 seasons so he could miss training camp but still get a huge deal?

Didn't Bus Cook bitch about Favre's actions in Men's Journal too.

I think that was more Favre than Cook

Edit to add: this is what Cook said about Favre during that time

Brett talked to goddamned Ed Werder at ESPN, says he needs ankle surgery. Now why did he do that? I’ve got (Minnesota Viking coach, Brad) Childress calling. I’ve got reporters calling all damn morning. Goddammit, why does he have to be such a goddamned drama queen? Play, don’t play, goddamn, people are getting sick of it. I’m getting sick of it! Why does he have to talk to these people?

I'm just waiting for the QB bubble to bust harder than the housing bubble burst. Sooner or later teams will get smart and realize they can win with guys like DA for a fraction of the cost and not have to handicap your entire team by signing one player north of 150 million, these QB contracts are just unsustainable

Go ahead and hold your breath for that QB bubble to burst.

Cook's ego very well could play a role, but ultimately he works for Cam and he'll either have to do what Cam wants him to do or take a walk.  If Cam wants to be a Panther long-term and is willing to do a huge, but not record breaking deal, then Cook will have to write it up.  He'd be a damn fool not to take the commission on a huge, but not record breaking contract due to his ego.  Sure, there's ego involved, but ultimately smart business men don't allow their ego to get in the way of doing good business.  Cook has done too much in his field to be accused of being dumb.  Like Rosenhaus, you don't have to like him and the way he goes about business, but you gotta respect what he gets done.

That too.  Certainly wouldn't be the first time Florio sought to stir poo up based on pure personal speculation and absolutely nothing to back it up.

Holy poo,  profootball talk comment section hates them some Cam.

""lol  if anyone thinks Cam will get a contract anywhere close to Wilson".

Wonder if they stupid or if they trolling? Being perceived as better doesn't mean anything....  It's why Flacco was paid  around the same as Brees and Rodgers.  It's why Cutler recently got a contract offering over $54M guaranteed..even though,  at the time, some of his coaches apparently hated him.

The new average franchise qb price is between $17M-$23M a year....and it's increasing every year.
