NFL Combine Thread - Offensive Line

I am totally unimpressed with Peat.

Here is a name to watch---

Laurence Gibson, Va Tech LT.  Long arms, agile, good hand size, strength, etc.  I really like him at this point (have not watched videos of him yet, but the man is built to play LT.

Am impressed with Jake Fisher, dude can move fluidly and has great size

Arm length is borderline, but I think LT. Personally, I would guess that Long goes in the first round after what I saw.

If you ask me, the OT draft is now:

1.  Scherff  (Arms are a bit short, and he would be a better guard, but he would be a solid LT too)

2. Clemmings  (I agree that he has all the tools, except experience)

3. Flowers (They are talking RT?  Maybe early on)

4. Collins (Possibly a G when the dust settles, a bit short, a bit short-armed, a bit weak, etc)

5. Long (His arms are between 33" and 34", but his versatility was on display today--He can play LT)

I don't think Peat is a LT.  I don't think Sambrailo is an NFL player.

Sleepers:  Jamil Douglas, Arizona St; Laurence Gibson (my favorite) Va Tech--I see both going in the second or third rounds, based on what I saw today.  Douglas has great feet, average to below average arm length, good 10-yard split.

Gibson has long arms, big hands, stands about 6'6", 310, good 40 time and 10-yard split.  His agility in drills caught my eye.  Mayock and Co. did not say much about it (I was in and out).

Maybe I am having a bad day, but I thought the whole OL group was unimpressive.

I would not take any of them before pick 15.

Yes there are guys who can learn and get much better like Clemmings, but this group is well behind last years crop in my opinion

You mean Fisher?

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
