Who are the best Panthers Defensive Ends All-Time?

Yes, Peppers is the best DE in team history. But he also was a below average DE for an entire season during what should have been his prime, and for reasons yet to be explained. That still gets to me.

For him to have a season that odd....IMO it points to a health issue that season

From a talent perspective I agree, but which has been more valuable to the franchise in the long run?

If CJ is here and produces for another 3-5 years, then I suppose that he would have to get serious consideration for the nod, but for now it is still Peppers.  He came into the league as a big name, and produced immediately.  he has produced his whole career at a good clip, and he will indeed be a Hall of Fame inductee.

The OP started the thread with Pep not at 1.. Which is a little asinine. . Pep is arguably the best Panther ever not just DE.... He also could be the 1st Panther in the HOF..

I did (ironically) miss that, but I think what he wrote is far from ignorant hate.

Every list has Pep at #1, and the points about CJ's leadership value are valid.

Not every list has Pep at #1. You're either in denial, or think your bullshit is better than it is.

I also never said anything about CJ'S leadership.

Question is, "who is the best all time panther defensive ends?", not "who was the all time best leader that was a defensive end? "

which would be Reggie White followed by Rucker.

Best DE talent- Peppers.

Best Heart in a DE- Rucker

Best pure pass rusher-Kevin Greene.

Johnson may be best all around DE- more consistent than Peppers.

Hardy may be the best of all when he gets mad and angry.

Not sure I'd say CJ is a better all around DE....

I mean don't the forced fumbles, INTs, TDs, blocks make Peppers the better all around player?

The problem with evaluating Peppers will always be whether he approached his potential or does he get dinged because he took plays off and sometimes whole games.  Much like Benjamin or Newton, when you are a physical anomaly you are often judged more negatively than your peers if you never reach your potential.

Only 1 list has Pep at #2, and it's not mine. Still not seeing any 'ignorant hate' - it's not like he's arguing that Tyler Brayton made Pep a better player or something.

If we're saying best, most talented and biggest impact it's Peppers at 1 (when he decided to give effort) and CJ and Hardy tied at 2. CJ for consistency but Hardy us right there with him for his ability to take over a game in addition to being one of the most complete DEs in a long time (vs run AND pass). Not as consistent as CJ but better at both aspects of the position than him.
