The Combine: J. Jones' speculation about possible prospects, including a WR that's making some noise

^^^ is that inside info, or speculation? What he does best, is what the panthers need.

Knowing how close that scouting departments keep their info to their chests in general, much less Dave Gettleman's scouting department, is this really a serious question? Knowing how they literally bring in guys to intentionally launch smokescreens and throw shade around in order to jockey for the draft, I would be shocked that anyone not within these offices would seriously know anything regarding someone's draft board.

it was just a question. especially when 2 other insiders (Jones and Voth) acknowledged him as someone to know, or keep an eye on.

I would love DGB but I don't see us drafting him because of his character issues. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope so.

I really don't see all the Sammy Coates love. It's not like he is 6'4 and he has drop issues. He isn't anything like KB. Perriman is better than Coates but not worth a 1st. Honestly I see us drafting Strong or Parker if by some miracle Parker falls to us.

I don't see us drafting any DE in the first round. None seem worth taking that are 4-3 DE. 2-3 rounds have plenty of talented DEs. Smith, Owam, Flowers and Orchard could be targets in those rounds.

He lacks a lot of polish and his work ethic is lacking. He needs to learn to use his hands better against a DB. Takes plays off and shows lack of focus in the run and when he is not the main target. Relies on his size, speed, and athleticism at the collegiate level. Has issues running proper routes and made a majority of his catches coming back to the QB after the play broke down or on deep bombs.

There are receivers that will be available in the 4th and 5th round that are as good if not better than Perriman. (Chris Conley, Stefon Diggs, Devante Davis, and Dezmin Lewis for starters)

If Perriman would be available in the 4th round, then I would be fine with taking him. His value relative to the other receivers in the draft does not call for him being taken in the 1st or 2nd round. There are other players with greater value relative to their position for the 1st and 2nd round like DE, RB, and LB. The WR, OT, and DB value is not much different for the first 6 rounds after you get past the top 2 or 3 at their position.

The biggest thing to note on Perriman is that he is fast, but it does not translate to his football speed or his ability to time it to gain separation on a receiver with the ball in the air.
