The Combine: J. Jones' speculation about possible prospects, including a WR that's making some noise

DGB IMO has highest ceiling of any of the receiver. He runs better than any 6'4" + receiver I've seen since Calvin..just very very effortless in his breaks from the limited available highlights. Mizzou was throwing bubble screens to that guy. Pretty impressive stop and go for a guy his size.

Perriman's description sounds like Sammie Coates description IMO.

On the surface maybe.

According to the reports that I have read: Coates is not a natural hands catcher. He lets way too many balls into his body. Unfortunately, they both have had the dropsies, regardless. Coates does not run routes particularly well, nor does he position his body against defenders efficiently. He was mostly a one trick pony in college. Perriman has a keen understanding of route concepts, plus he put it into use during his collegiate career. He is very adept at exploiting cornerbacks by using his big frame to his advantage, and just doesn't try to make it by on athleticism.

I'm really hoping for Shaq Thompson. The kid is über versatile and the things Rivera and McD could do with two hybrid safety/OLB's (Davis and Thompson) ought to scare the poo out of offensive coordinators for next 4-5 years until TD retires. Then, we could either put Thompson in TD's place, or keep him at safety (depending on whether we had found another gem at safety or OLB in the meantime). Oh and if RB ever got thin for us again, Thompson has succeeded there too. I really hope this guy is our pick at 25. He won't make it to 57, and I can't think of any OT or WR that will feasibly be on the board at pick 25 that will be a better value than Thompson. If Gman thinks he will go between picks 20-24, I say we expend a 5th rounder to move up and snag him. Not Gman's's MO for sure but I'd applaud him for it.

I caught a couple of Central Florida's games this pass season and Perriman skills stood out. The ECU game in particular when he open enough to catch the winning TD was amazing. I said then he would work in the Panthers system but won't be on the board for any of the team's early picks.

I will say this as an ECU grad/fan, our DBs are nothing to brag about what so ever.
