The Combine: J. Jones' speculation about possible prospects, including a WR that's making some noise

Safety is really the only positron in the draft that isn't deep. It's a bad year to have a need there.

So if that's the case, then it strengthens the argument for Thompson and Collins.

This is also why I hope DG takes advantage of the safety FA class.  There's a handful of starting caliber SSs available.  Let's say we don't, Shaq and Collins are gone (which is likely) then we're looking at another year with a mystery secondary.

Also, with just Boston, I don't think we're fully set at FS especially either now that DeCoud is gone.  That will be interesting to watch.

I think we're in position to really build a completely new secondary (again...but this time with better players) with Bene and Norman the only write in starters right now.

Breshad Perriman. Found my bandwagon.

Perriman is good but I'm not sold on getting him in the 1st yet.

I've been on the Jaelen Strong bandwagon and he should be in our range with the depth of the WR class. He's looked as good as Perriman but against much better competition in the Pac12 with those corners out there (Alex Carter, Ifo, etc). If the top 2-3 OTs are off the board we could get a #1b WR for Cam. Creating a duo that will be here for a while to grow with Cam and come much cheaper than a FA option.

I think Boston will be a playmaker, but he just needs time. All we need is a SS to groom.

I have been quiet fond of Jalen Strong but what does our front office think of him?

Perriman would be a legit #2 from Day 1. Dude has serious skills. strong is too slow, our offense needs a speed injection.

I agree. I was quite intrigued with Strong last year, but he seems a little slow, needs some help on route running, and just isn't as nearly as explosive as some of the others.

Been wanting Shaq Thompson since day 1.

I think he'd have a great career with the Panthers.

He could play strong safety behind Kuechly and Davis for the first few years and potentially take over Davis's outside linebacker spot one he retires.

Would be the best possible place in the league for him right now.

Odd that you say that though. Both Perriman and Strong or both projected to run 4.48-4.5 40s

Perriman looks a little more explosive in his highlights than a strong due to the competition he faces. Pac12 is stacked with good Corners (Carter, Ifo, and Peters are among the top I this draft). He still looked good and got separation against those guys. I'd take Strong any day over Perriman. Same size and Speed and producing the same #s vs some of the top dbs in the draft. Put him vs the cusa dbs and he'd look like a top 5 player

Nice point. So you are countering our eye test about explosiveness with level of competition. Perriman looks way more physical in my opinion, stronger (no pun intended), and a tad more athletic.
