Should Carolina Draft Plan B?

I want Cam to be here until he retires but in the 2016 draft J.W Walsh from Oklahoma state wouldn't be a bad pickup in the later rounds

When you have a young franchise QB, there is no Plan B.  Those guys don't grow on trees.  When you find one, you hang onto him.

 

How many true franchise QBs end up leaving their initial team in the prime of their career in free agency?  Or hell, even by trade.  Don't worry, I'll wait.

 

I can think of Favre getting traded by Atlanta, but he wasn't in his prime.  He was a completely unproven 2nd year player when he was traded and he was traded for a 1st rounder.  Huge mistake in hindsight, but completely understandable at the time.  Cutler was traded for a king's ransom and he's been a borderline disaster for Chicago.  Damn good call on Denver's part on that one.

Well Brees and Warner, but they were both let go because of injuries so it's kind of different.

I think drafting Plan B would immediately make it Plan A.  I don't think that will happen.

We shouldn't do it just to do it. But if the right QB fell to us in one of the later rounds and had crazy value, I have no problem drafting a QB.

But as Panthro said Cam should be plans A-Z

I wouldn't unless the value is just insanely good. We could use a long-term replacement for DA, but I've always preferred veteran backups personally. Have a sense Gettleman feels the same way.
